Alllrighttt! It's movie time again : ] This should be interesting. I only watched it once when it came out , and don't recall much of it , so this should be fun: ] No Fun Facts before the flick this time , but I'll try and find a couple after the film; ] And that means it's Checklist Time! Fatty rolled and ready - Check - Eatable eaten - Check - Smokes and Zippo - Check. To quote Mo Fuzz from Tapeheads , "Let's get into trouble baby." Peace

0:10 - You had the correct pronunciation the second time you said the title Sir. Although I do remember the first time I saw the word in print I said it the same way: ] ma-kin-a is the correct pronunciation. It comes from the old Latin/Greek phrase "Deus Ex Machina" meaning "god from the machine". In many old plays the Greeks would do when the gods, played by people hoisted in by machines, would always come to save humans from a scenario thought to be hopeless. It's currently used to mean any device in a story that 's introduced solely to solve the unsolvable problem faced by the heroes. I had 4 yrs. of Drama in High School , and played D&D for many , many years. There , lol , there's a Fun Fact; ] Peace

Annd we're done!! Helluva reaction Sir! I only remembered bits and pieces of the film from 1st watch , so it was mostly a first time watch for me as well. I did dig up a few Fun Facts , so here ya go - On Nathan's computer, a folder on the desktop screen is named Deus Ex Machina. That is the only use of the movie's title within the movie itself. - Without actually being a ripoff, the film borrows notes from many other films and works of literature, among them: Frankenstein, Pygmalion, The Man in the Iron Mask, Heart of Darkness-Apocalypse, Now, The Stepford Wives, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Cuckoo's Nest, and even Pinocchio. - And lastly , my favorite one - The first spoken dialogue in the film, "When do we get to his estate? / We've been over his estate for the last two hours," is almost verbatim from the film Quigley Down Under (1990) (Which I would love to see Mr. LB react to that one. A great , fun film , IMO) thanks again for another banger Sir: ] I hope all is well with you , and all the others here. : ] Peace

You don't have any emotional ties to inanimate machines? How do you feel about your jeeps and your cameras then? Many that's your non neurotypical part. Many people do have emotional attachments to your their cars and things like that.

Since we are getting close to spooky season, how about The Exorcism of Emily Rose?

Mister_Bleak

don't get things twisted. we are nowhere near this. Ai are currently LLMs (large language models). there is no true thought or ability to do anything aside from presume a best guess to the user's inquiry. we are nowhere close to artificial general intelligence, and are stuck at expensive toys created to placate, and riddled with errors. Sorry for the rant. interesting movie though :)
