Algorithm Temple Storyboards (Patreon)
Content
Below are the very messy storyboards for the Algorithm Temple short. The most important thing for me when I sketch these out is making sure I film all the coverage I need, i.e. the monks' profile while they're playing roshambo, or the one with his hood up lost and confused. The other thing is pacing, so I can see visually how each shot will look and feel in relation to one another. However, the always unpredictable variable is how all the shots feel strung together when I'm finally editing the footage. Most of the time, I've shot too much and need to trim. So you can see below a reverse shot of noble knight and Merlin staring as the monks assemble, as well as the monks filing into the temple that did not make it into the final cut due to pacing. As frustrating as it can be not being able to predict or plan for everything precisely, it's also what makes the medium endlessly entertaining: it's a constantly changing puzzle.
