I'm curious how something like this affects the Merchant-tier supporters... Isn't it directly competing with them?

It is priced in a way that it's a useful tool for folks that want just a single mini from a squad, or a single setup of a character (also it's printed whole, not in parts) - while the whole pack/kit with many various options (and ours have a ton as you know) remains as more value-for-money. So it isn't affecting the people that regularly want our whole releases (or merchants that sell them).
