To everyone that supported us: Thank you!
We will be reporting on the production schedule of "ASCOT: Demon's Waltz" today. (Referenced as "ADW" hereinafter), which is currently produced by us, TeamKRAMA!
We planned to release the ADW prototype publicly in March, but we postponed the release in order to further improve the game.
We apologize to every supporter that looked forward to the public release!
I would like to help you understand our decision:
1) Lacking quality of Ascot's model and overall fidelity
Ascot's model is only a temporary WIP model in the prototype. We do have people working on both the quests and models at the same time, but there are still disparities between these two. First-time players may be turned off if they play a fully fleshed out quest with a WIP model or vice versa. The first impressions are important!
We had a similar problem in SoD, but we had a different schedule there. These disparities were also not as important since it was just ADW, however, is an RPG. Story and character development are very important. Ascots model quality is adamant in guaranteeing a good immersion.
2) The game/prototype is not that fun yet
ADW revolves around quests, requests, rewards and skill growth. That is the planned game loop. The prototype, however, does not contain any important "growth factors", it is only about requests.
Of course, we could upgrade and improve the prototype over time, but it can still be a major turnoff for first-time players.Basically, it simply was not fun enough.
3) Lack of exposure and restricted expression
Our Vimeo account we used to publish videos has been frozen and we are currently working on resolving it.
Furthermorer Steam, Twitter and Patreon have become extremely strict when it comes to game themes like ours and we will have to rethink our marketing plans.
But don't worry! The concept of our open world RPG mixed with adult 3DCG still has a future ahead, we just have to find the right way to get there!
We think about how we can ship this game to the most people possible, including marketing, without compromising our game. Maybe you have some ideas?
These circumstances made us decide to postpone the prototype and possibly our overall schedule.
I can't tell you what exactly changed to where, but we will clear this up for you as soon as possible!
Not all is lost, though! Our illustrator is still hard at work, and we're still working on the ideas of ADW, so we can report this to you, still!
We will try our best to work together as a team to have this game become better, I hope you stick with us!
