When I was 15 and a busser, the dishwasher was a lady named Virginia of whom everyone, including the restaurant owner, was terrified. I kept my head down and did whatever she told me to do. One day my mom spoke to her at the grocery store and Virginia said, “That girl a’ yourn is a hard worker.” then stomped on by toward the frozen foods. Hell, I’m still proud of that.

Silverware gets rolled in the mornings the following day by the opening server where I work now, honestly, as bad as it can suck sometimes of all the places I’ve waited tables my current place has the best atmosphere and least amount of sidework I’ve ever had to do.
