amitygaze

Ryan

since you’re in this edm phase maybe check out a dj set together! i’m sure people in the comments could recommend some really historic ones.

Cole

so hyped for this, album got me thru 2024 for reeeeal

Ethan

PEAAAAAAAAK

Sanne

When will you guys listen to Beyoncé again? 😊 I really enjoyed and appreciated your insights on her music — I learned so much from it!

Milo Clement

did you HAVE to post this right as I'm going to bed goddam

Fing10

hi! you guys put me on to great music and help me look at music with a more open mind. I know there's no shortage of albums to listen to but my recommendation would be "The Light for Days" by Jacob Collier. Wish you both the best!

Tom and Pop

God I'm so happy you guys are starting to get into hyperpop, that Wallsocket reaction is going to hit like crack

swag

wallsocket by underscores :)

Sam Jirovec

This album performed live is so great! This and Nurture are constantly fighting for my favorite Porter project

Hanna

YES!!! This album changed my brain chemistry last year. so glad you got to listen to it. I found this BEFORE Nurture but AFTER Worlds so my Porter experience is just as out of order as yours. Worlds next!!

Ethan Bello

This album is so peak. I discovered Porter when I was in search for more pop punk music and Cheerleader was on New Music Friday. The rest of his music wasn’t what I was looking for at the time but it’s exactly what I needed and now he’s my favorite artist of all time.

legitxhawaiian

Cheerleader is about the parasocial relationship between him and his fans. How some fans can take it too far. But Porter recognizes that ultimately, he needs them. He relies on us fans as much as we adore him for his art. 10/10 song and that lead synth is fucking insane and it's everything.

Austin Stewart

This is great but it should’ve been Worlds!! Also, are we going to go a whole year before we get another Mac project?

Joshua Manring

Russian Roulette makes me cry every single time

Ethan Bello

Also, HIGHLY suggest watching all of Porter’s interviews with Zach Sang. They go pretty in depth about everything about Nurture and SMILE!

William Bång

Amazing album, thanks guys❤️

Potarooo

this makes me soooo happy thank you guys

Basil

HELL YEAH!!! Thank you guys, so glad Kevin is in love with Porter!! Man it would be so great to have him on the pod sometime

Hy Ly

I've been checking the patreon like every other day since nurture for this 🥹

TheCatch22

Mentioning his music found you at the right time is so real ❤️

Denys Knopik

Where is the reaction of Scaled and Icy 😭😭😭

Logan

Same man, the ending is a lot. What a song

archivo

You should check out one of Porter's friends, Madeon! They've also done a tour together as a duo act previously (Shelter Live Tour), based on their collab track "Shelter" I recommend the album Madeon's - Good Faith, since its anniversary is coming up this November (November 19th). And he's releasing a new album early next year, too! Also idk if this is possible, but I felt like Porter Robinson - Worlds (his first album) is pretty much unavoidable now (reaction or not), personally hoping that there'll be a reaction video to that project eventually

archivo

Seconding this!

c00mwall

i went to the brisbane (australia) show and honestly didn’t know what to expect with ninajirachi cuz none of the new tracks had dropped. Left with her whole discog saved (we also cried a lot to porter lmao)

Logan

I think we need a Flume reaction soon 🙏

Moses Arthur

Porter Robinsons music found me when Tyler Joseph of twenty one pilots shared him on his story in 2024, been hooked ever since

sadmachine

i prayed for this and it happened

Kaden

The nurture voice in Easier to Love You gets me every single time

PORTER HEADS ASSEMBLE 🫡

SoupyTurtle

Please would love a Flume listen through. I think Skin is the perfect place to start!

legitxhawaiian

I think you guys should definitely do a Worlds reaction. I think the way you guys have done Porter's albums is perfect for your guys' taste. Worlds will be more of what you think 'traditional' EDM is. It was so genre defining for its time and honestly changed the game for Electronic music. Worlds is so vastly different from Nurture and SMILE. It's got so many great highlights on there that I really hope to see you guys react to. Keep it up tho. Love you guys tons. Long time fan from Hawaii 🤙🏾

Jordan Mullins

I feel like Porter would definitely come on the podcast too

Taro Quirk

Please do Worlds from Porter Robinson its super detrimental to his work and what you've guys reacted to so far!

Ven

Would love to see you guys react to ericdoa who also opened for porter on his smile tour!

legitxhawaiian

His melon interview is goated as well

Coen

Its 3am but I had to finish it, loving the Porter albums. Will you guys also visit his 1st album?

parallaz

Detrimental? lol 😂

Jonathan Nieves

I know everyone is saying this, but you simply MUST see him live. DJ set, next album cycle a live concert, anything. In all of them he completely remixes his work in the best way. Its even better. He takes all the songs you enjoy and he breaks them down and wraps them around you. Try to go in blind.

Jordan Mullins

Thank you guys so much for these. Porter is by far my favorite artist and I couldn't help but cry at everything to me. I will be impatiently awaiting Worlds. Much love again!

oddie

Hell yeah!!! Please check out Frost Children's new album Sister next, or Hearth Room (which is less electronic but I think more of Kevin's traditional style–the song Bob Dylan off of Hearth Room is life changing!!!) I'm guessing you guys are going to react to the new underscores album when that drops but until then, wallsocket is an INSANE listen!!!! both have opened for Porter :)

oddie

Got to that part of the video... kevin if you love Easier to Love You you're going to LOVE hearth room by frost children 🫡

Stefan Harp

Once you get to Worlds, I'd love to see some sort of reaction to his live shows, his recent Smile Tour would probably the best as it covers everything he's done so far but the Worlds Tour is also basically up there alongside Daft Punk's Alive 2007 in my mind as pivotal EDM shows.

Jayden

The Nurture Tour was something else. It sucks my venue couldn't do his full vision, but even just watching live recordings on youtube is so worth it. But you still need to see him live.

A Generic Canadian

Love this album, one of my top from last year! You'll have to work your way back to Worlds at some point in the future, it's a fantastic listen. I saw Porter in Toronto around Worlds, crazy the way he's changed his music style up from back then.

Michael

ericdoa- “dead on arrival” next please!!!

Stephen

Flume reaction would be awesome to see. Self titled album or Skin to get started!

Ethan Bello

I don’t think I’ve seen that one. Can you link it??

Branon Guiles

Russian Roulette makes me bawl my eyes out every time without fail

Leo Quinn

Thanks so much for this! Incredible album, so catchy and melancholic at the same time. Since you guys are doing more electronic and leftfield stuff lately, might I suggest Exmillitary by Death Grips? I think it's the perfect follow-up after The Money Store a few years back, super influential on lots of punk-y electronic and hip hop today.

Jack Shaver

Oklou - choke enough is a great electronic album form this year. Definitely should check it out

Uni

beanie in slovakian is "čiapka" lol, ive been waiting for this and nurture reaction for literal years thanks boys

Jacqueline Sardinas

yay! im glad y'all listened to Smile! (: I hope one day he brings back Second Sky Music Festival and you're both able to go! (his Secret sky performances are on YouTube and u can see early nurture!) I def recommend listening to his first album: Worlds I saw that album live at his last stop of the tour in Miami in 2014 and it stays rent free in my head bc nothing has ever felt the same since! Since then, I've seen porter atleast fifteen times live (all phases, dj set, festival, and venue). When you guys visit his first album, you should def visit VirtualSelf which he rarely performs anymore. My other recommendation is listening to Madeon! He's so important in Porter lore, haha. Shelter is their only single together (also the music video is iconic) but Madeon's Adventure and Good Faith are such great albums. ALSO, shout to those saying to check out Flume! PLEASE DO! Disclosure goes hand in hand with Flume cause they came around the same time. If you're ever curious there, listen to their first album, Settle. Very excited for the road ahead for music! thanks for listening! <3 much love from miami! 😘✌🏼

Almag

Definitely they should do Oklou, such a natural fit after these other records

Deon Osborne

We need worlds next. PLEEEEEEAAASSEEEE 😫

Kii

Would love to see you guys getting around to frost children at some point :)

cole williams

I saw Porter in Chicago a few months ago. It was genuinely one of the greatest live experiences I've ever had. Made me appreciate his music even more than I did before, would highly recommend seeing him live if he does another NA tour sometime soon

strobelightblackout@gmail.com

Porter has been my favorite artist for the better part of almost 13 years. I got into his music when I was 13, 26 now- seen his live show over 20 times throughout his career. All that to say that it is truly something special watching other people fall in love with something you've been loving for years and years... Definitely give Worlds a shot but be warned it IS very 'of its time' aka early 2010s edm and a bit more filler than his other albums. Also CHECK OUT VIRTUAL SELF (Porter's 90s/00s acid rave side project)!!! Kevin would LOVE the drums on EVERY SINGLE TRACK from that EP (but especially Eon Break / Angel Voices).

Ryan

vouch!!!!

YIPPEEEE

John Runkle

Such a great album. Russian Roulette is a beautiful journey that leaves me in tears every time. Connor & Kevin - If you were wanting to continue down this genre bending arc, I highly recommend considering a reaction to the album "hypochondriac" by brakence. He adds more elements of hyperpop and hiphop to his production and vocal delivery, but it's sonically one of my favorite albums of the 2020s.

dansoddity

Smile is such a fun but still thoughtful album, I think even with all the new directions he takes with each album, they all manage to retain that heart that makes the music so touching. Worlds is going to be so different but I LIVE for it. That album came out at the perfect time for me, I was 15 going through all that teen angst and trying to find my identity and it was really like one big oasis to escape to when life felt so heavy. Also the first song "Divinity" features one of my all time favourite vocalist's, Amy Millan of the band Stars (based in Montreal). Their album's "Set Yourself On Fire" and "Heart" are absolute musts in this rainy season. Great video as always and much love to you both, glad you enjoyed the album!

zoudain

Kevin mentioned programmed drums on a few of the songs - Everything to Me actually has live drums from Georell Magno, Is There Really No Happiness has drums from Mikey Freedom Hart. When I saw him on the SMILE! tour in Boston, he played with a live band and it really enhanced the experience. They performed songs from every era of his career (mirroring Taylor Swift ironically) and his older stuff sounded incredible with a full band backing him. If he ever comes to your city y'all absolutely have to go see him. There is such a fun and loving energy at his shows, plus the visuals are really cute. Amazing reaction guys, I'm glad you started at Nurture, which was definitely a somber point in the world, but his music brought all of us who listened to a happier and emotionally-positive place.

Gianna

oh after he went on fear& last year for sure

tvojeprezuvky

Unrelated, just the album title made me wonder if you ever listened to The Smile (Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Tom Skinner band)? Since you already are familiar with Radiohead, I think you would love their work. Especially the album Wall of Eyes is absolutely stunning.

Fka twigs - eusexua IS A MUST❤️❤️❤️

naia

For context on Kitsune Maison: it's the name of a designer fashion brand, and in the song he talks about how "Everything you thought you wanted was made out of nothing". So it's a song about "trying to look good to not feel bad" and the emptiness of the lifestyle his newfound success has enabled him to live, but with a chorus in the style of a Carti-esque flexing track to highlight the dichotomy and the theater of it all. He's done some interesting stuff with fashion in the past--last year he hosted a silent event where he gave each fan that showed up one piece of designer clothing from his closet based solely on their vibe. One more thing... you said Mona Lisa was a standout bc of its production, which is interesting because it shares the most similarities with his first album Worlds--my and many people's introduction to him, 11 years ago. An absolutely formative album for many, and I really REALLY hope you listen to it.

Rachel Harshbarger

Love that you guys are getting into more electronic stuff!! Would love to see smoochies by ashnikko

Katie Porter

They actually already did! It’s under their electronic playlist

mr.tinkles

Late to the party, but I've been looking out for this album reaction XD I absolutely love this album, it made me feel like I was in high school again bc it's so similar to what I was listening to at the time. Not sure if you guys have done any reading up on the album since this but how it developed was that initially Porter wanted to do a kind of satirical, tongue-in-cheek mainstream pop album (like Knock yourself out). As he continued making the album, he started thinking more deeply on parasocial relationships and being admired by his fans while also feeling like he so many flaws (Russian Roulette and Year of the Cup; btw, all the scenes in YOTC are things that really happened). On top of the pressure of being successful, he also felt pressure from fans who depended on him and have described to him how they felt uplifted by his music during really dark times in their lives. It's kind of wholesome that while he doesnt really feel comfortable with the parasocial, he's so open and accepting of his fans and doesnt want to push away anyone. One more fun fact, the high pitched voice in Easier to Love You is the same as on Nurture 😭😭 Can't wait for Worlds! It's definitely more atmospheric and not as lyrically dense as Nurture or Smile, but awesome all the same

Benji

it’s me i’m the streets i guess (plz do underscores guys)
