Katt i Låda

Christmas came early, this might be a contender for my favourtie album of all time

VVeaver

yay sufjan! michigan is one of my favorite projects from mr. stevens. not because i’m biased by being from michigan, but because it’s fantastic.

SL

Might as well do adz too while we’re at it 🤞

Daniel Aguirre

I didn’t intend on crying tonight, but I guess I am

skree

Been waiting for more Sufjan ever since yall listened to Javelin, please do illinoise at some point!

Mar

AHHH NO WAY

Mar

Im so excited!!! I’m about to go on a long drive, this is amazing 🗣️

Nate

thank you!

George Kenny

The feeling I get when a notification pops up with you guys covering a classic like this is something pretty rare nowadays. Every movie, song, tv show is available instantly but having to wait for something makes it so much sweeter

frankie

oh god ive been obsessed with this album for like a decade and when sufjan did the soundtrack for call me by your name i had no idea those songs would feel similar to C&L so subsequently i fell entirely apart! love to all who feel this album while they listen to it

Stove

I forgot it starts with Death with Dignity. Man what a perfect song

victoria

death with dignity will forever hold a special place in my heart as it is basically the theme song of the tv show "this is us"

chloe

OMG IM SO HAPPPYYYY

VVeaver

yes please

Cayce Campbell

Sufjan is my all time fav so I'm so glad to have y'all revisit him! I think you guys would have so much fun with Age of Adz... weird and electronically and sonically WILD!! It's so much fun!

WillRob

kevin has swag today

Kiera

Excited to watch later! Will you two be reacting to EUSEXUA Afterglow/ the reissue?

alex

when you said Kevin probably wouldn’t cry I was like oh just wait for fourth of july hahaha. I saw Sufjan live on this tour and it was one of the most magical nights of my life, it was absolutely gorgeous. I think he knew how heavy we’d feel after these songs and he did a cover of hotline bling at the end which is so of that time haha it was great, he’s the best. and as a fan… no his fans are not okay lmao

j✰

YESSSS! Beautiful album, so glad you guys are doing more Sufjan Age of Adz hopefully next 🙏

greenanator

gotta do illinois or age of adz now

Cayce Campbell

Okay coming back after finishing to say y'all should watch the full live album/tour that he has uploaded on youtube. I was lucky enough to see the him perform it live and it's just as beautiful but it's amazing to see how he adapted some of the songs (adds percussion, electronics, beats etc.) the live version of "Fourth of July" is probably my favorite.

James Hsu

This album is one of my favorites of all time! So happy to listen to it with you guys, connecting and reflecting with each song. Thank you!

Bhavya Lamba

hope you guys do Elliot Smith at some point :) this whole album is such Elliot Smith vibes

user12345678

oh man loved this!!! hope you guys get to the rest of his discography eventually as well. so much to dive into and i've loved all versions of his music (folk, electronic, orchestral). i always think carrie and lowell is my favourite and then i hear illinois again and get reminded of how much of a masterpiece that one is.

Jamison Waldrip

Have been waiting for this one! Fourth of July is one of my favorites. Always brings me to tears as well, such a beautiful song.

Jack Shaver

Still gonna say oklou - choke enough. I have a feeling oklou’s only gonna get bigger and since the album dropped they’ve already made some pretty big moves. Bonus: underscores feature so…

piscesbri

I literally never comment on things but I just felt compelled to say that I always appreciate how vulnerable and real you both can be in your reactions to music. Sensitivity and empathy are gifts, especially in this day and age when it seems like so many people delight in being cruel or mean. It’s really good to see men expressing themselves on this way. <3 peace

Daniel Aguirre

Ahhh highly recommend going to Rough Trade Records at Rockefeller Center if you can 🥲♥️

yellowflannel

Holy shit, I've been requesting this since you started Youtube channel. Illinois is my favourite Sufjan album but Carrie & Lowell is also in my top 10 of all time. I hope you will do The Age of Adz and Illinois at some point, both are incredible. Thanks for this!

Teaydog

This has nothing to do with this video, but I really think you guys should give a listen to Sky Records by Dan English. I found the record when Caroline Polacheck posted about it on Instagram earlier this year and it's shot to the top of my favorite albums of the year list. The production is incredible and I think you guys would have so much to say about it.

Trym Sørsdal

When I saw this notification pop up on my phone I was just like “oh shieet”! Haven’t watched it yet, putting it on rn, can’t wait!!

Andrew Lodge

My dad passed away yesterday and this is one of my favorite albums. So glad I have this to watch today ❤️

Frank's Dad

I truly appreciate and find joy in hearing Kevin's thoughts and anecdotes❤️ Thankyou for being so authentic and honest. If your looking for something similar in theme, I'd suggest giving 'angel in realtime' by Gang of youths a listen, I'd love to hear what the two of you think.

Jelle Wijers

Sufjan makes some truly unbelievable music. I'm very curious to see the reaction to Age of Adz, which I hope won't be skipped.

Kieran Hindmarch

one of the most beautiful, life affirming and gut wrenching albums ever made

Joey Jojo

Kevin is always so insightful, man. I love how he talks about his feelings towards the music. Great reaction as usual you guys!

gravy balls

you guys should check out: Last night in the bittersweet ~ Paolo nutini. you guys would love it

yellowflannel

Imagine Kevin reaction to Impossible Soul, 25 minute masterpiece.

Ryan

Fourth Of July is one of my favorite songs of all time for many reasons, but the biggest one of all for me is that when i listen to to Sufjan say “we’re all gonna die” over that hauntingly beautiful instrumental, i feel at peace. we are all going to die, and that isn’t something to be afraid of, it’s something that makes life sacred. it’s a sad song to be sure but it manages to bring me a melancholic feeling of peace every time i hear it

aurel89

Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite albums of all time! Please do more Sufjan in the future, he has other amazing albums (Illinoise, The Age of Adz, Michigan ...). There is a sense of melancholy and sometimes despair thoughout the whole album but is is also strangely comforting like a warm blanket when winter is approaching. The lyrics are also fantastic with several layers of meaning so there is always someting to discover when revisiting this album.

Sophie Warren-Blades

Truly one of the best albums of all time. Listening to one of the most beautiful artists romanticize your home state and town is one of the greatest gifts.

Kailey's Corner

Sufjan is such an incredible artist. Every album is full of hyper specific personal and historical references and the softness in his delivery is just so unique and special. I really hope you explore more of his work!!

Jen

This is a BEAUTIFUL album but not one to keep you in a positive happy mood Kevin 😂😂😂

JimFanAccount

After hearing him say how happy and positive he is, putting him through this album is devious work. I believed it...

Stephen Hernandez

I don’t know if y’all should put yourselves through it… But “A Crow Looked at Me” by Mount Eerie would be an absolutely devastating reaction.

Jake Apollo

literally best patreon i’ve ever bought, love y’all

Scarlett price

Sufjan stevens song futile devices is definitely worth a listen very beautiful loved the reaction

alex

Age of Adz has some of my favorite songs of all time, it would be amazing if they cover it. Mostly i only see C&L/Javelin/Illinoise reactions and Age of Adz should get equal attention.

alex

Age of Adz and Illinoise too PLEASE!! Also really happy to hear you're recognizing clipping recs!! Extremely excited!!

Onni Teesalo

Illinois and age of adz next!!!

turning the tables

Hey Andrew. Sending our deepest condolences and love to you and your family. Please take care of yourself ❤️

Jimmy Hayes

This is the greatest album that I have ever heard only once, I can't get through another listen because I end up sobbing every single time. To this day it is the most moving piece of art I have ever consumed. Music about mothers always gets me sobbing, but this album was just on another level. I can't imagine my life without my mother, and the thought of ever losing her makes me violently ill. I can't even read the lyrics to 4th of July without crying! Sufjan is a once in a lifetime artist and I admire the way he is able to create so beautifully as a response to such unimaginable pain.

Matt C

As heavy as it was here, I highly recommend giving the Live Fourth of July a view, it ends with huge drums and such a cathartic crescendo

molly

You guys should definitely check out “Illinois” next! It’s a beautiful album

Pat

My all-time favorite artist. Glad you enjoyed.

Chloe

howww were you calling this album chill bro this shit is devastating

Sergio Olivares-Rueda

You guys gonna react to the 8 singles by Magdalena Bay now that they have released the final double singles?

Nicolas Viehweg

What was the name of the jazz trio you tested with in the beginning?

Hannah Ligon

I have massive flight anxiety, but I have to travel for work. This is my go-to headphones album for finding calm no matter what.

kit

i was thinking this 😭

kit

mfw i got this notification while in the middle of an emotional talk with my mom: 🫨

Dan P

Joacim Mattsson

Great video. Would love to see u react to Modern Vampires of the City, Sleep Well Beast, and I love You Honeybear

Kii

2nd this! Truly a sob fest of an album

josh

What an album. You guys have to queue up Illinois for sometime soon

josh

Also, East of Eden is incredible

Mees Doesburg

Dreaming away to this while travelling on the touringbus through western Austria. It’s autumn out here. The steepy icy mountains and intertwining moments of sun lighting up the golden leaves made this an emotional journey for me. I thank you both for this beautiful pick out.

Phillip

Kevin you don't need to feel guilty about crying to some of that stuff. Sexist people being like "Check your hormones" can literally go fuck themselves. Love y'all, I'm so exited about this!

arabella root

Illinois is absolutely incredible, highly recommend guys!!

Sam

there's an npr article from back in may where they interviewed sufjan for the 10th anniversary of this album, it's really insightful and definitely worth a read!

pthursty

Hey Kevin! I wanted to let you know that I appreciate when you show your emotions on albums that I also got me really emotional (and albums that didn't). That's part of the reason music connects us. Stay genuine, stay Kevin, and please let the emotions flow. Love y'alls stuff as always. 🫶

calum reid

love this album!!! lily next pwease

Bdwubz

I know it’s unlikely to happen, but I would love to hear your guys reaction to the live album of Carrie & Lowell.

Patrick

It was an honor to sit down and listen to this album with you two. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! P.S. I'd love to watch Kevin react to Sufjan's 25min song Impossible Soul while Connor is in New York lol

johnlec

Would love to see Kevin react to Elliott Smith - Figure 8 would be perfect since he layers vocals a ton on that album like Sufjan

Sanna

Blank Face LP next please!!

carly patricia

So so happy you got around to this one! I also didn’t grow up religiously and had some resentment towards songs with any mention of religion, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve found this album in particular very touching. It’s clear his relationship w God is very personal, there’s also just the context of his sexuality that makes it even more interesting to me. Loving these “throwback” reacts!!!

my🌷

Late to the party but I just love this album and I'm happy you guys finally got to react to it 🥹 thanks shorties

Frank Villeneuve

What's the track from Go Go Penguins you played at the begining? Sounded good! Thanks :)

Andy Shaw

Check out the live rendition of this album with full band, it takes to another dimension

zephyrae

Saw this announced on YouTube and had to sub on Patreon right away. My fav album of all time. Oh to experience it for the very first time again. This was a great watch. Illinois next!

Shaun

illinois is a top 5 album all-time for me

Víctor Cruz Rojas

You gotta do "Illinois" now! And if you are feeling adventurous, The Age of Adz. For me it's Sufjan's raw talent unleashed and it's just two completely different trips. Also, are you ever going to do St. Vincent? I'm dying to see Kevin's reaction to Strange Mercy. Such an underrated album.

Erik

So fun to watch! Michigan, Age of Adz, Illinois, or Seven Swans would be fun listens too.

Cam

We need rebel by esdeekid

John

king krullllleee

goldenframes

Illinois (2005) is a great one as well!

Blair Teague

Being happy is arguably the funniest way to start off a Sufjan Stevens reaction

NanaCreamTart

Seeing you reacted to this album finally was what broke me to subscribe because there's no way I am missing a single line! Glad I did!

Daniel

Once again asking for Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous

Dr. Katz

You have to react to the deluxe songs at some point they are all amazing.

Nicholas Rohaidy

“A happy album to keep me going positive” *picks a gut wrenching sufjan record*
