Marten 9

So excited for this have been obsessed for the last couple daysss

Yannik Aidan

sick! are yall gonna do hyperyouth afterparty? 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Dr. Katz

This album hits personally for me because of the big theme of loss and grief throughout the album. Band leaders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett both experienced the deaths of people close to them in 2024 and in doing so they decided to travel to India for a spiritual reprieve. They then made an album out of this loss and grief weaving in everything they had gained from traveling to India, both spiritually and musically. My grandmother who I was very close with died last summer and so listening to this album hit very close to home. In a lot of ways this reminds me of The Next Day and Blackstar by David Bowie, two of my favorite albums ever. (Albarn even sounds like Bowie on a few tracks.) This is easily the best Gorillaz album since Plastic Beach and an instant AOTY contender.

kennygk

Was waiting for you guys to listen 🥺 really excited! 😆 I’ve heard very good things! Regret not going to the listening party at my local shop tho

kevin's sweater being that colour scheme and it being two skeletons is ridiculously poignant

layla

so glad you connected with The Manifesto so much as well. that was my top song of 2025 (since it was one of the singles)

Maaz

Also Asha Bhosle is one of the most acclaimed indian singers! Shes almost 94 now hahah!

turning the tables

I just had to look up what a playback singer was. Amazing voice ❤ - K

kennygk

Always be proud of your heritage!!

kennygk

What a great album, gotta do a front to back with headphones, but honestly they made a beautiful work of art. I could feel the grief pouring out of some of these songs. But also the hope.

Matt Hands

Holy shit, I came here on the off chance this was up. Can't wait to listen

K ZZ

Amazing that I caught this! Straight up my AOTY right now, got to listen to it early at a listening party at a Melb record store. Love gorillaz, and love this album. The process and motivations behind this album is so full of love

Jamie Valentine

Amazing album! On the back of the traditional thing. I’d love if you guys did Lankum! 🇮🇪

Wes

man TOP and gorillaz were like my 2 faves as a kid lol. love the album. love ur guys' vids

Ryan Manning

For the mic audio vs music audio thing… i don’t think you can do this in adobe premiere or Final Cut…. But you could take a note from daft punk and apply side chain compression on the music track to duck a little bit when you talk. But also that might fuck with the music in a way I don’t like… but maybe something to try

Evan B.

always love more Gorillaz, you guys would probably love their album HUMANZ

JT

I need that new Jill Scott - To Whom This May Concern

amiccus

This one is just as good as Demon Days and Plastic Beach, which I do NOT say lightly. It will take time for it's rep to grow, like Plastic Beach did. But it will get there. I can't believe Gorillaz is back at this level again. Never thought they'd drop something like this again.

liv kath

kevin touched on this in the video but ive thought for so long that damon is weirdly underrated. and i think that is because of the high heights of albums like demon days and plastic beach. and for an older british crowd they see something like parklife as his pinnacle. he reaches so many different people with different outlooks on music, and, as someone who is a huge fan of his entire discography, i dont see enough people appreciating ALL his music enough! his journey with music is so interesting. if youre interested at all in damons work for gorillaz, id recommend giving a few blur albums from the 90s a spin. in the AP interview released a few days ago, damon says something similar - he finds it bizarre that he has fans who solely like gorillaz or solely like blur, all whilst the same man with the same creative dna is behind those songs. i hope one day the general public recognise damon himself (without any project names attached) as the genius he is. sidenote its also incredible to see a nearly 58 year old man dominate in the world of alternative pop. i dont think a lot of people take the time to recognise that!

liv kath

sorry for going on a tangent here! im glad you both liked the album, its truly amazing and we are so lucky to be alive at the same time as damon albarn. <3

liv kath

id also love to see you guys cover parklife one day! one of damons earliest concept albums! its a prime example of how hes been blending sounds and ideas for much longer than a lot of people think...

Kerem Kırlı

Damon Albarn is definetly my favorite artist to and you said perfectly spot on. Nothing more to say.

Fidelí

Anoushka Shankar is not a singer she plays the sitar every song she is included. She is daughter of legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar. The womans who sings is in Empty Dream Machine are Rebecca Frakleton and Jesse Appiah. They are part of the Gorillaz live band.

Zach

Hi Kev! I wanted to point you toward the new album by Bill Callahan that just came out. I feel it would be a particularly touching and immersive solo reaction, in any case I would love to see that!

Eugene Yuan

I don’t know if anyone will see this but I bought the patreon when I first started working with my PhD mentor on my organic chem synthesis project - now i’m at the late stages of publishing the paper, i used these uncut reactions to get thru tedious 7+ hours sessions of sitting with a column purifying smth and spent a total 500+ hours in the lab with these episodes in the background. keep it up! i hope that when our paper gets published i’ll still be listening

Logan O'Riley

Y'all should do long lost album reaction from Lord Huron

Bianey

Loooove Gorillaz!! Got to see them live in 2017 and they were soooooo good- this tour announcement has me tempted to go. Can’t wait to listen with yall. Btw where’s that HS1 👀

_Chrisco_

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!! This is my aoty so far

Zenero

On my fourth listen and it just keeps getting better. Wonderful album, almost certainly going to make my year end Top 10, unless a whole load of other amazing albums come out this year!

Stuck 1337

when the my new band believe LP drops hopefully yall listen to it, the live shows have been legitimately perfect and the lil off-album singles also amazing

Sachin Patel

Riding around with your friend blasting Indian songs in the 1970’s there’s a chance you might have heard some Asha Bhosle songs. I can’t understate how legendary both her and her sister are in India.

MatnuMusic

There is a timeline somewhere out there where everything is the same but the only thing different is that y'all reacted to InnerSpeaker and LiveLoveA$AP and life is perfect

Cam

Can yall do snow strippers April mixtape 3? Please🙏🏾

Carbonated Water

i highly recommend you check out system of a down if you havent already

zachmcd

LOYLE CARNER PLEASE (brit nominated rap/jazz/indie album)

Melo

Great content, makes work fly by, thank you guys!

RollInitiativ

This album is just such great art, I resonated with it immediately and I'm glad y'all connected with it too. Their third best album to me and that's saying something.

Maeve

check out red apple tree under the sea by hemlocke springs, quick listen and it’s so good

King Geedorah

Still surprised you guys didn't ever hop on Song Machine, it's a bit similar in style of Cracker Island i guess where its more a collection of songs than a cohesive album but it still has a great set of stuff. Loved the reaction and commentary as always!!!

turning the tables

I have been watching her videos since we listened to this album - K

roggssx

Hoping that you guys do Gorillaz Self Titled album

ThomT94

If you liked the Joe Talbot feature you guys really need to do IDLES. Brutalism is essential listening

BN JM

THISSSS

febos

I personally really love Cracker Island, it's in my top 3 Gorillaz albums. It's a grower, I recommended it as a driving album.

ReshDET

100% have to get an IDLES reaction in, Brutalism and Joy as an Act of Resistance are my go-to albums from them

jo t

seriously a great album, the collaborations are amazing. you have Anoushka Shankar an amazing FEMALE classical sitar player, Ajay Prasanna who’s an amazing classical devotional flute player, and Amaan Ali Bangash who plays sarod with his brother. They are both the son of Amjad Ali Khan who’s an extremely famous sarod player (which is like guitar/sitar but has not frets). Powerful work, they worked with ragas of classical indian music that evokes certain moods. Extremely powerful with the idea of grief. indian culture is extremely potent and reflected beautifully in this album. glad you guys enjoyed!

jo t

highly recommend ravi shankar and his daughter who’s on the album anoushka shankar

David Bland

Please do more Gorrilaz :D

katrin klausa
