Another solid series finale! Next up is the series 10 Christmas Special, Twice Upon A Time!

Series 8 he began arrogant because he didn't want to break his heart so it was his defence mechansim and the am i a good man was him wondering if he should keep to the promise of the doctor at the end he realises who he is with help from Clara and Missy. In series 9 we see more of him just helping out but as he's not judging on the moral and doesn't have his defence mechansim he ends up connecting to people a lot more especially to clara. we also learn that his subconsious impossed his personalitly. however when he connects fully to clara as best friends he looses her so that makes him super pissed off and we also see futher why his subconsious impossed his personality on him. His subconsious was telling him not to make the same mistake as 10's incarnation by becoming timelord victorius. Which nearly ends up happening as 12 admits he went too far in hell bent. but unlike 10, 12 has a chance to fix it and has to face up to his own consequences. So ends up experience really upsetting and unpleasent grief due to the memory wipe whist as a result makes him a lot more kinder. As a result of the next two adventures we see him become a lot more kinder and understands how pain and grief affects others. So he has fully realised himself and we see more of this in Series 10 as he's devoted his own time to teach both bill and missy. But unfortuantley, he failed to keep bill safe and thinks missy has resorted back to her old self. he was also unable to save the people trapped on the farm. So he is utterly defeated. in 12's context If you can't save anyone? is there any point of living especially if your so used to saving everyone. So it's understandable he doesn't want to regenerate anymore especially as he's helping out with his own kindness.

The First ever doctor was played by william hartnell (who passed away in 1975), so they recasted for the Christmas special david bradley (who played Mr Filch in Harry Potter)

Also to add on to the previous comment. The 1st doctor is played by David Bradley who was the Solomon on the spaceship during dinosaurs on a spaceship during back in matt smiths era. He also portrayed the 1st doctor on the documentary an adventure on space and time. He's playing the actual 1st doctor in these episodes as the real actor William hartnell is no longer alive due to that era being in 1963.

If you haven't yet, you may still want to go back and watch "An Adventure in Space and Time". It was one of those specials people were urging you guys to watch in the comments before the movie special "Day of the Doctor", that I believe you missed. It chronicled the origins of Doctor Who, and David Bradley portrayed the 1st Doctor in it, and was brought back for this coming episode. It really is a great watch.

I love your reaction. This was my favourite two-parter, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. In "The Pilot" Heather was able to follow them through space and time, so getting to the TARDIS would have been easy for her. The Doctor wasn't able to because taking the lifts would take too long and the Cybermen would overwhelm him. Missy might have been able to if she still had her vortex manipulator. The Mondassian cyberman design was significant - the first Doctor met them at the South Pole just before he regenerated for the first time, IIRC.

So that's David Bradley PLAYING the First Doctor, but no it's not the same actor as the original first doctor...(William Hartnell the original Doctor would have been 113 now if he was still alive... :D Even actors that play the Doctor don't get to live that long... :) ) - the first 3 Doctors passed away in 1975, 1987 and 1996 respectively, and the rest are all still living. (Though Doctors 4, 6 and 7 particularly are old men now...!) This story really does give some serious closure to so many characters - almost too many for me so we don't get the payoff I'd want for Bill, Nardole or even the Master and Missy. Looking forward to the next one!
