Great reaction, really great commentary. It's fun to see Who go back and using history as a setting, it's not done as much in New Who but it used to be a popular thing in Classic Who. This is probably my favorite episode of this season/series, despite the villain being a bit silly. It's so easy to think of this as just a moment of the past, and the Rosa Parks and Montgomery Bus Boycott was, but these places do still exist. There are a number of 'sundown towns' in America that are still this bad, and that's more horrifying than anything Doctor Who monster could be. https://apnews.com/article/virus-outbreak-race-and-ethnicity-violence-db28a9aaa3b800d91b65dc11a6b12c4c My top emotional episodes would be this one, the Van Gogh episode, and the end of Tennant's era with Wilfred, like you said.

Lovely reaction❤️ This is such a brilliant episode. To answer your comments about where Doctor Who is filmed, it is made in Cardiff, the Capital of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Sometimes they will go to England, & abroad to different countries, but it’s mostly shot around Wales as it has a very diverse set of locations like beaches, countryside, quarries, cities & lakes, all in a very close proximity to each other. If you ever come to the UK I definitely recommend that you visit Wales, it is beautiful😍

I had a strong feeling you guys would love this one. Definitely one of the stronger episodes of Season 11... I do wish they'd just found a way to make it a pure historical without any of the time travel stuff to be honest (Classic Who used to do pure historicals a lot) and I think it would have been a braver way to write the episode. I get the impression you are really warming to the new crew, in particular the companions, which is nice - they weren't particularly well received as a group but I keep saying it... for me the whole thing improves immensely in Season 12.

This episode (and the exteriors of the previous one) was actually shot in South Africa. There was a slightly bigger budget this season partly due to the fact that there are fewer episodes. For me it's so powerful because it's based on actual history. Here in the UK there certainly still is racism but from what American friends have told me it's much more subdued than in the States.
