I don’t mean this to sound snarky at all, but over the years I’ve come to see holidays as just days that society puts way too much pressure on. What really matters is feeling connected all the other days of the year, too. My family often doesn’t celebrate holidays on the exact day. As long as the spirit of love and togetherness is there, any day is the holiday 🥰❤️🙏

My partner and I have been together for 8 years. Sometimes, we do holidays together. Sometimes we don’t. He will travel to Liberia next Christmas and I can’t go and that’s okay! At least until we have children. You’ll have your whole life with him so don’t stress one holiday too much! You don’t get to see your family asssss often I assume so I’d prioritize them for the day. You didn’t choose for his family to travel, so consider that part out of your control. There will always be Christmas and next year. You can’t do everything and I know your boyfriend would understand. I’ve always been a very firm believer in taking time with your family by yourself, no partner sometimes. We have had these relationships with family since we were born. I’m religious too and I understand the becoming one thing, but I also know how important it is to give quality time to every individual. You could always offer to hangout with them and maybe host a mini thanksgiving at your house the day before or after and just get together. That’s what I’m doing this year lol. I hope this helps 💕💕💕
