Do restaurants in NYC not split bills by couple/person?

Hi Maria, I'm not sure about on Manhattan, but I'm on Long Island in NY and I know that they are not thrilled with splitting bills. We usually figure it out on our own or in a large group one person pays and we figure out later

I would think that’s part of their job? I’ve only been to NYC for work so never had to think about it. In the Midwest it’s normal to tell the servers to split by couple or person even with a group of 10+. Typically the host of the party tells the server before anyone orders.
