June Roadmap & ramblings! (Patreon)

How is it already the 9th, this seems illegal 😭

I've been meaning to make this post all week but every day, by the time I had finished other work and felt ready to sit down to type a Patreon post, it would already be like 10pm and my brainbox completely fried so I would just pass out on the couch = _=)

So I'm typing this today right after my first coffee!! Or else it's never gonna happen.

It's been another busy week and most of the work I've done is behind the scenes admin work, so I got nothing to show for it :sadge:The sad reality for self-employed artists is, that actually drawing and creating is like maybe 40-50% of the job, the majority of work hours goes into admin, emails, book-keeping, appointments and whatnot. At least that's the case for me. And it's been worse lately because I stopped working with my old tax accountant and have a new person now to help me with that, so for the past few months I've been trying to make that transition as smooth as possible, which wasn't super easy and cost me a lot of nerves, lol.

+ there's other developments that I can't talk about yet, although I am dyingggggggg to spill the beans (hopefully soon)

(completely unrelated, here's a little doodle I did based on a convo from my Discord server, where the gemlins talked about basically being flora and fauna surrounding me and Fynni at all times and while the imagery was very sweet and heart-warming, it also reminded me of how allergic I am to all of nature so this image sprang to mind and I had to visualise it for everyone to see xD)

Anyway, for the past 2ish months I've been struggling to find my bearings e _e) Not helped by the fact that I was fully stuck with Shallow Sleep chapter 04, I think I mentioned that in a prior post?? There were some text and design issues that I just couldn't find a solution to, I ended up putting the whole comic to the side for a few weeks, which means I'm way behind schedule now 🤣 Not great for stress relief !!

BUT yesterday things finally clicked and fell into place, I got the issues resolved, now I can finish up the chapter in peace and bring you the updates right on schedule! (my buffer is completely gone tho, more on that later)

So, here's what you can expect for the remainder of June:

(optional) I've been experimenting a bit with watercolours again after like 3 years of not touching any traditional art and would like to do that more often again, if I have anything to share from that journey, I will!

Now, regarding my buffer e _e) As I said, my buffer is basically gone, and I can't just draw harder to catch up because I still have not had the time to sit down and fix the writing for chapter 05!! I think I talked about that before too, but the chapter 05 script isn't set in stone yet, I have like 2 branches it can go off to and past!kan left that for future!kan to figure out. Sadly, I will be that future!kan soon, which is kinda rude 😭 How dare they leave that to me........ I'm sueing myself. I've been going over my script right before falling asleep for the past few days and I think I have a good idea of where it needs to go, so it shouldn't take too long to figure out but there is definitely going to be a bit of a break between Shallow Sleep chapter 04 and 05. I will try to fill that gap with #MUTED "Home" pages as best as I can! 💜

I also have some personal business to take care of: Early last year I started uh.... driving school... and I still haven't even taken the written test 🤣🤣 I've just not had enough time to set aside to learn for it LOL I may wanna finally knock that out over the summer, but I will have to take 2-3 weeks away from most work to really sit down and cram, get it all in my brain, do the test and then move on to the actual driving part. I'm working with a time limit here, technically I need to get this over with until autumn or else I'll have to get an extension from the government for some documents I'd applied for a year ago 💦So, if possible I will be taking half of July off to get that moving and sorted, but I'll try to have enough prepared to make your pledge to me worth it anyway! Sadly I can't afford to just pause Patreon payments right now or I would just give you a free month with some smol doodles.

So yea, that's most of what's going on right now on my end!

Things may be stressful but don't get me wrong, I'm also very excited about all the stuff I'm doing! Just typing all this gets me all hyped up for the next weeks and months LOL
