I really appreciate your positive attitude when talking to people in social situations. Some of the people on SD service dog FB groups are so very snarky it makes me cringe. Thank you for the business card and TikTok dog behavior resources.

DOGGY•U

I've never once changed someones mind by being a snarky asshole to them LOL, even if it made me feel better in the moment. The more you can meet people where they are, the more likely you'll be able to make a positive impact. and yeah, a lot of FB service dog groups are pretty toxic. I actually had to get off most of them years ago because it was just too much.

The chat function sounds really interesting. We had to have a baby gate and space they both had themselves (upstairs cat downstairs dog) and a managed house until the cat and the dog understood how to behave with each other it took almost 9 months of management to slowly teach them how to live fully together (shy cat rather run than stand up for themselves before). Please get your friend on youtube I don't use tick-tock We have need to train more for loud sounds. He's fine in the house so we are trying to find sounds out of the house so it's getting harder to think of where we might find these. He also doesn't like steps that you can see through so I will have a look at your stairs video. X

Hey Alice - for sounds I would consider airports, train stations, subways, trash day, outside concerts. Hope that gives you some ideas!

Thank you for explaining about dog breed and size and exercise/tiredness needs. I have an English lab who is almost 1 and (barely) over 100lbs and it might be common sense to others but it took me way too long to realize how little he is going to do (which works great for me, I just don’t see it discussed a lot in SD training).

DOGGY•U

Absolutely! Yes those English labs *can* have really low exercise and mental stimulation needs, and that's a totally different thing to contend with (and for many, a great feature of the breed!). Glad you figured out what worked best for you both! <3
