Q&A Live: Tuesday November 12th @12pm ET (link below)

Deep Dive Live: Thursday November 14th @12 pm ET  (link in separate upcoming post for Inner Circle & Top Fan Members) Topic: How To Structure a Young Puppy Socialization Session (details below)

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR! :)

What is a Live Q&A vs. a Deep Dive?

Live Q&A's typically last 45-60 minutes and are open to all paid DOGGY•U members. Crew and above members can submit a question prior to the live. Q&A's are recorded and you can find every Q&A I've ever done in the "Q&A" section in the "Collections" tab.

Deep Dive's typically last 30-60 minutes and are recorded, so if you can't make it to the live, the recording is posted later that day. They focus on one topic, covered in a webinar-style lecture. You can also see all previous Deep Dive's in the "Collections" tab. Deep Dive's are a member benefit for Inner Circle and Top Fan members.

LIVESTREAM Q&A INFO:

Reminder that our livestreams are via Zoom but recorded for replay viewing after the Zoom. I will post the replay link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. You can always go back and watch past livestreams even if you can't be there live. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering and I do not take non-related questions during the Q&A.

Those members who are at the "Crew" ($10/month) level or above are able to submit one question per month with their membership. Leave that question in the comments below.

The cut-off for submitting questions is 2 days prior to the Zoom (Sunday November 10th by 12pm ET is the last date to submit) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Top Fan membership level for video review of your training.

DEEP DIVE INFO: How to Structure a Young Puppy Socialization Outing

In this month's Deep Dive, I'll be detailing Denver's biggest socialization trip to date. I'll have footage of the event, as well as go over what I did before the event, what I packed, and how I made decisions throughout the trip, including avoiding common pitfalls and how to think through a situation to make sure your puppy has a positive and fun experience!

If you're an Inner Circle, Elite or Top Fan member you will receive a link to the livestream in a separate post. If you're interested in this topic and are at the Member or Crew level, you can always upgrade if this topic interests you, and get access to all past Deep Dives (2+ years worth!).

I would love to hear your thoughts on how should we socialize a puppy while on the road? Rv parks we have on the list should be friendly to SDIT. Our girl has the basics down. 8mo old Australian labradoodle. Looking forward to it!

How to train my service dog even though I have children, can they be around while I train and can they be apart of it, also I’m unsure if I should let them randomly treat during “pen time” so the pup has good association with them. Q&A

Cosette Kerner

How do decide when to put a puppy on the ground vs in a stroller. I was under the impression that puppies should be in their stroller all the time during socializing to avoid parvo risks until they get their second round of vaccines. How do you decide when an outing is safe for a puppy to be on the ground?

Megan McDonald

Q&A: My puppy is a giant breed. He's 13 weeks and can already put his face/paws on counter tops. Whilst I've puppy proofed the entire basement/training area he still loves to rest his face on these things/check out surfaces. I'd love some incremental training steps to teach to keep faces away from tables/countertops.

We have a 5-month old sheltie/border collie mix. He's obviously very high energy and extremely smart. We are struggling with him bullying my husband. The pup will constantly try to bite him and go after his clothes. It's almost like he goes into a frenzie. He has lots of toys he likes, goes for regular walks, multiple puzzle toys/brain games, and we do training regularly. Redirecting with toys, treats, or training doesn't work. I try to intervene, but I'm not always around since my husband works from home and I do not. We've tried having my husband do more training with him and that has not made much of a difference. I would just say it's the puppy in him, but neither me or my brother have the issue; we just deal with typical puppy troublemaking. My husband is an very laid back person. I suspect the pup knows that and that is part of the problem. Any advice/tips on how I can help my husband or what he should do?

Megan McDonald

Also, you may go over this in your Deep Dive, but I'd love more info on how your colleague/friend organizes these training outings to museums and the like. I found one for our local airport, but it's been hard to find others. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places? I was thinking about organizing some myself. Any advice would be most appreciated!

I'll be training my future pup to be a therapy dog so I will want to encourage appropriate greeting. How can I set my pup up for success with this? Thanks!

DOGGY•U

Hi Labs4evr! Is this in addition to service dog work, or as a pet and therapy dog? Thanks! My answer is different for each so I want to make sure I answer for your situation :)

Wendy

Q&A: First day a 10 week old puppy is home, how do you "prepare" it to spend the night in a crate for the first time? Sniff the crate, treat, touch the crate treat, step in the crate treat, use Kong or similar for longer period but how long and if filled with food won't he need to poop during the night?

DOGGY•U

Thanks for all your questions! Questions are now closed. See you Tuesday!

DOGGY•U

Hi Cosette, Thank you for submitting a question. Q&A Questions are able to be submitted at the Crew level and above. You can check out the different levels and what they offer here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/welcome-to-heres-108817050 That being said, happy to answer your question this month as I've had the same question from many members. Just be sure that if you have a question for next month, please upgrade to the crew level so I can maintain fairness for all members. Thanks so much!
