Q&A Live: Wednesday Dec. 11th @1pm ET (link below)

Deep Dive Live: Wednesday Dec. 18th @1 pm ET  (link in separate upcoming post for Inner Circle & Top Fan Members) Topic: Integrating Puppy Into a Household with Complicated Dog Dynamics (details below)

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR! :)

What is a Live Q&A vs. a Deep Dive?

Live Q&A's typically last 45-60 minutes and are open to all paid DOGGY•U members. Crew and above members can submit a question prior to the live. Q&A's are recorded and you can find every Q&A I've ever done in the "Q&A" section in the "Collections" tab.

Deep Dive's typically last 30-60 minutes and are recorded, so if you can't make it to the live, the recording is posted later that day. They focus on one topic, covered in a webinar-style lecture. You can also see all previous Deep Dive's in the "Collections" tab. Deep Dive's are a member benefit for Inner Circle and Top Fan members.

LIVESTREAM Q&A INFO:

Reminder that our livestreams are via Zoom but recorded for replay viewing after the Zoom. I will post the replay link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. You can always go back and watch past livestreams even if you can't be there live. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering and I do not take non-related questions during the Q&A.

Those members who are at the "Crew" ($10/month) level or above are able to submit one question per month with their membership. Leave that question in the comments below.

The cut-off for submitting questions is 2 days prior to the Zoom (Monday December 9th by 1pm ET is the last date to submit) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Top Fan membership level for video review of your training.

DEEP DIVE INFO: Integrating Puppy Into A Household with Complicated Dog Dynamics

In this month's Deep Dive, I'll be detailing Denver's integration into my dog-complicated household. With one more physically fragile super-senior dog (Jake), and one dog that did not ask for a puppy for Christmas (CoolWhip), there's a lot to consider to help everyone get along long-term. In this webinar I'll be detailing my plan for integration, what's going well and what isn't, and where we are, 6 weeks into the process.

If you're an Inner Circle, Elite or Top Fan member you will receive a link to the livestream in a separate post. If you're interested in this topic and are at the Member or Crew level, you can always upgrade if this topic interests you, and get access to all past Deep Dives (2+ years worth!).

Megan McDonald

For context: Stóri is a 50 pound, 4 month old Irish Wolfhound SD prospect. He's a very high energy beast at this point. If we haven't done another activity like group class, public access training/socialization, or playgroup he can easily do two 1.5 mile hikes a day. Our area, even the somewhat secluded wooded paths are frequented by walkers, runners, cyclists, dogs, and even folks on horseback. Other than training for service it is very important to me that I cultivate a confident and respectful outdoor adventure buddy. Q&A: Encountering others on hikes. When I first see someone coming towards us or approaching from behind I step off the trail as far as I can reasonably manage, I use 'this way' to call him to me, step on the lead, ask him to sit, feed in place whilst he watches the folks approach. He often offers running back to me when he sees someone coming, sometimes can't manage a sit whilst staring at another dog coming his way, after they pass he often stands and strains against the short leash towards them sniffing. Am I doing the right thing? I've watched your video on Maebe and various others with Cool Whip. The 'internet' seems quite conflicted to the correct procedure. I don't want to accidentally teach reactiveness! He's had plenty of practise doing offered attention in public but it's often sitting/laying by me rather than standing or walking past the thing. I need to take him on these decompression walks and folks closing distance between us is unavoidable. What would you do in these circumstances to manage the situation and help your pup make good choices?
