This game is an extension of the two toy game where the dog switches between toys. Stillness means that toy is now inactive or "dead" and they should switch to the other active toy. In essence drop they should out the toy in their mouth to go for the other.

We can use that stillness to get the same out with a single toy, as the concept is the same. Here you can see Denver outing the toy faster and faster as the game progresses.

Is this the cleanest session? Meh. But it's a real session LOL

I was using "get it" here. Which is my catch all encouragement. Once I clean it up I'll be calling it "strike" for disc/play.

Review: Leaving the frog in the picture proved problematic. I knew I was going to use it to end the tug session but I probably should have put it in my pocket instead of leaving it on the floor.

I will need to use toys as rewards, instead of cookies. Long story short, was not training regression. But Lobo may need a work up at internal medicine. So this is helpful

He is just such a good boy & so smart!

We practise this! My giant puppy does out (drop) pretty well and (take) but he uses his paw quite forcefully during tug, should I discourage this? Do you have any advice for that?

Some of that can be a bit of messing around with angle of the tug, type of tug, fatigue level (sometimes when they're tired they will use their paws more). But you can also mark and produce a second toy specifically when he just uses his mouth - essentially capturing the behavior you want.
