For those who have been around the channel for a while, you'll know that I'm obsessed travel, national parks, and campervans. My love of campervans started in 2016 when I rented a minivan, took 3 weeks off of work, and drove it 10,000 miles to 7 national parks with Jake, CoolWhip and Eric. That same year, I flew into Denver with CoolWhip, rented a minivan, threw a cot in the back and headed down to Taos for a "women on the road" campervan meetup that was life-changing.

From there I was hooked! The next year I bought my first van, but it was too big and complicated with all its amenities and everything kept breaking, so I purchased a smaller van and just put a simple build (basically a bed and some crates) in it and called it a day. You can see that van here.

Unfortunately, when I moved back to CT during the pandemic and went back to placing dogs (and being away from home 6 months out of the year) I made the decision to sell that van because it wasn't getting used. But I missed it dearly.

So, four years later, I'm back in a campervan and loving it!

So this week's video is a quick tour of my van that I am currently sitting in typing this post as I head West with the crew!

Happy New Years Ya'll!

When traveling for several days do you use truckstop showers or just sponge bathe? I've thought about doing a conversion for traveling and going to dog shows/dog sporting events but wondered how I'd handle bathing.

DOGGY•U

So it depends. I'm relatively comfortable being dirty for a few days, but sometimes that's not socially acceptable for something like dog sports/shows. A lot of times I'll just do a night with a campground with a shower. If I need to be showered daily I'll just stay at a campground. I also have friends and family all over the country so I'll snag a shower when I can. Otherwise I have wipes that I use. I'm also going to join Planet Fitness this year so that I can shower there as well - there's a ton of them all over the country and you can get a workout and a shower if you get the black card membership!

Sorry, another question. In these hot summer temps, how do you keep the van cool? I can't imagine running the van just to run the a/c but my van's a/c doesn't run on just accessory mode. That's been my biggest concern, how to keep cool.

DOGGY•U

Yeah so it really depends. If it's going to be super hot, I might not be camping - might need a hotel or potentially not to go at all. I tend to do a lot of my travel not in the summer because I don't have AC (though newer options with big battery banks have come a long way but pricey). Here's some tips if you're looking just for your dog: https://youtu.be/k1HOFx95Nsk But lots of fans, a freezer with cold packs/ice, extra water, cover the car with aluminet.
