In this Deep Dive we join Rawan and MeshMesh as they work on passing other dogs while out on a walk. This particular training setup makes great use of a local dog park as a stationary distraction, but I'll also show some strategies for passing dogs in real life/as single events, as well.

Big thank you to Rawan for submitting this video for review! This team is awesome, has obviously put in a ton of work together, and MeshMesh seems like such a lovely boy!

If you enjoyed this style of deep dive, please let me know so that I can decide if I should offer it again in the future.

Happy Training Ya'll!

Fabulous deep dive. Thorough as always, visual aids totally clarified what you were explaining and props to Rowan for addressing such an important point that I know lots of us doodle owners are working on. 👏

This was great thanks so much!!! Sorry I missed live

Such a great video for showing examples

This was so helpful! I think my dog has a harder time with prey as distractions, though… Can you talk a little more about this exercise specifically as it relates to other animals please? Or perhaps a video on reducing prey drive? I know I need to set realistic expectations, but I’d like to work on it as much as possible!!

Thanks, Rowan and Laura! That was really helpful. My lab and I are working on the same skills.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert on redirecting prey drive. I've heard good things about the predator substitution method - I'd check that out for your needs, as that isn't my area of expertise. I generally harness prey drive into tugs, flirt poles, etc.
