Last month was my first month offering two livestreams, and I think the first round of Special Topics went really well! If you missed it, Inner Circle and Elite members can watch the playback of our puppy testing/selection livestream where we reviewed two puppy tests and I walked you through what I'm looking at and how I picked one puppy over the other.

So, the first livestream this month, open to all DoggyU Community Members will be the traditional live Q&A. I'm trying a "lunch bunch" time slot this month to see if that works for people who can't typically make the afternoon. This one will be held on November 15th @11:30am ET.

Reminder that we are now doing our livestreams via Zoom and I will post the YouTube link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering, as I've run over my hour pretty much every time in the last few months :) If I forget to turn closed captioning on, please remind me!

The cut-off for submitting questions is 48 hours prior to the Zoom (Sunday, November 13th) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Elite membership level for video review of your training. I do have a few suggested topics for the Special Topic that would be great for the Q&A, so if you had a topic you want to ask as a question, and it isn't the topic for the special topic this month (see below) please write it in the comment section on this post.

The second Special Topics livestream this month is going to be on a member-suggested topic: dealing with "demon puppy" behaviors, aka normal puppy behavior that might not be ideal for humans/living harmoniously in a household. Undesirable behaviors may include biting, zoomies, inappropriate chewing, inability to calm when tired, and I'll also touch on potty training accidents etc.

When thinking about this topic, I was thinking about how as a trainer, I get bitten very little, have few accidents in the house, and rarely have my stuff chewed.    I want to lay out a plan for why I think this is the case, because I am far from magical. I am not at all suggesting that puppies don't bite me, or that accidents don't happen, because, they do. But when I have puppies in home, I have a lot of strategies for managing and shaping puppy behavior to make puppyhood more fun, and less frustrating. So I'm going to share that over on the special topics this month. More info and a link to that will be coming soon and appear on the feed for Inner Circle and Elite members. If this interests you, you can upgrade your membership at any time, and as always, you can watch any past livestream replays.

Okay that was long! Please post your questions for the Nov. 15th livestream below in the comments! See you next week!

What’s the recommend amount of time that a one year old should be training PA? I don’t want to take her out too much or too little… thanks so much!!! (Like hours a week)
