Q&A Livestream: Wednesday 01/18/23 @4:30pm ET (link below)

Special Topics Livestream (Inner Circle, Elite): Tuesday @12:00 pm ET

Reminder that our livestreams are via Zoom and I will post the YouTube link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. You can always go back and watch past livestreams even if you can't be there live. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering. If I forget to turn closed captioning on, please remind me!

The cut-off for submitting questions is 48 hours prior to the Zoom (Monday, December 16th) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Elite membership level for video review of your training.

The Special Topics livestream this month is going to be on positive reinforcement training methods; luring, capturing, shaping, free shaping, targeting and I'll talk a little bit about why I don't use modeling. I have a lot of new people here so I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the skills you see me using in the videos, and how you can use them too. I will be showing video of each of these training methods used in a training session so you will have examples and can ask questions. If you're new to positive reinforcement methods of training, this is the Special Topics for you (and if you're not, you might just be reinvigorated to work on a behavior from a new angle!).

A link will appear on the feed for Inner Circle and Elite members later today. If this interests you, you can upgrade your membership at any time, and as always, you can watch any past livestream replays.

Back to the Live Q&A: Please post your questions for the Dec. 18th livestream below in the comments! See you next week!

Ari (they-them)

How would you recommend introducing a puppy to the subway? A year ago I would have just flooded him and brought the puppy with me on the train from day one until he got used to it, but I am trying to stay away from flooding in my training the more I learn. How do I get him used to such a loud and overwhelming experience in a positive way?

My question this month is could you talk about the different types of alerts we can teach? She has a nose bump, we are working on paw touch, and I know about chin rest, but that’s it ? What other types of alerts are there? Thanks!!!

DOGGY•U

Thanks for the questions! Because we're light on questions this month I'm also going to use this time to talk about a big life transition that's happening for me right now (I'll save it for the end in case it's not interesting for everyone :)) , and to get your feedback on things you'd like to see in the future, or places where I can add more value in the DoggyU Community. Thank you all for being here!

I could listen to you talk all day, I always learn something new!!!!!
