Hey Friends!

If you missed the Q&A, here is the replay!

Topics:

- Splitting vs. Lumping: Tips for splitting your behaviors into smaller, more attainable pieces

- Zero tips on being better at documenting your training, but confirmation that you're not the only one that finds record-keeping punishing and you can still train your dog without it (even though you'd likely be better if you did do it, but we're all human, and I'm probably not going to become a whole new person that is good at data collection anytime soon so basically at least video some of your training ...)

- Finding an exit: overview on how to train

- Info on guide and mobility harnesses, rules of thumbs related, and a rant on hanging things off your equipment

- Cooperative care, start-button behaviors, and when to train this with puppies

Feel free to ask questions in the comments below.

P.S. I didn't cry in this one like January! Yay! I still love you all just as much!

I just clicked on it and it seems to be working on my end. Maybe try opening it in YouTube?

Anna Budinick

Same here, that it isn't working. But I will try youtube.

I didn't realize how big my megaquestion was, thank you for taking the time to answer in such detail! I feel bad for commandeering the call, but that was incredibly helpful.

Thanks for answering my question! Love the peanut butter jar analogy. I’ve heard something similar before (making a sandwich maybe?) but applying that to a training plan is a great idea! I think have the steps written out helps me to visualize it and not lump. I’m excited about training those micro behaviors. Honestly, I don’t record keep either. I think you expressed it well - it can feel punishing. It looks great when someone else does it, but I’m not that person. I have a list of trick goals on my phone and I’m more likely to do something like that (goals/lists to keep me on track) than to be a bullet journaler 🤣.

Totally. I think maybe everyone else is just lying about record keeping? Or has a completely different brain. It's one of those things that in my 30s I realized I wasn't going to magically wake up as a different person who was into data, so mineswell embrace it and do my best with the brain I have lol! No shame in that!

DOGGY•U

Hahah yes!! I think this one also addressed somewhat the "find the exit" task that you're working on training :)
