Hey Everyone!

My latest video is on the human end of the loose leash walking game. Last week I talked about my strategy to train and maintain loose leash walking, and this week I talk about the leash I use and why, how to hold it, and how I reinforce to create a reinforcement zone by my hip. This strategy helps prevent forging or crossing over your body. There's a lot of different ways to use cookies to reinforce heel position, but I find this way to work most consistently with the dogs that I've trained.

As always, ad-free until released publicly on Friday. I'm also putting the products I use in this video as well as the public videos I have that address loose leash walking down below.

Remember, if you order anything on Amazon, if you go to the DOGGY•U Shop (amazon.com/shop/doggyu) before ordering or click on any of my links, I get a small percentage of the sale, at no additional cost to you. It's always appreciated and another great way to support any online creator that has an Amazon shop! You don't need to buy the products I recommend. As long as you click on the link, anything you purchase within 24 hours gives me a small credit to my account.

(Big thanks to the person who had a huge purchase earlier this week! Definitely helps with purchasing new equipment and training aids for the channel!)

I then show you a loose leash walking exercise that will help start you with good dog training mechanics and starting to train your dog in a reinforcement zone. SO HAPPY to see BLD on here! They're my favorite place to get gear - we love their Atlas Leash and the Every Day Working Harness. Great ladies to work with, too! (also you have a typo in your tags! "lesah handling")

Thanks Kori! And yes! I love working with BLD. I met them like 8 years ago at Clicker Expo and they've been awesome every time I get to hang with them. Their gear is also great!

Love love love my BLD multi function lead. Jamie turned me on to them when I saw her last. I am obsessed with it. ❤️ Now I also need to find a silicone container for my Ruffwear hip pack. I generally clip a treat pouch on the belt of it and use the fanny pack for my “stuff”. I want to try the silicone and downsize what I carry on a walk.

This video is everything. I've noticed recently that it's become a problem with my dog moving out of heel position every time I go to reward or when she suspects a reward is coming. I started wondering if it was because of where my treats were placed (opposite side of pup). This confirms exactly what I suspected. I am left-handed and my pup heels on the right; I was trying to use my dominant left hand to do the rewarding. I will retrain myself to use the right hand so that I'm rewarding from the same spot where I want her to remain in heel position. This seems like such a simple concept but hearing you confirm and being able to watch someone do it the way I am vs rewarding same side as the dog is so incredibly helpful. Not to mention the mechanics of handling the leash while rewarding, etc. Again, so simple, yet I know this will completely elevate our heel walking and make so many other things easier. Thank you for this!

Yay Morgan! I'm so glad you found it helpful! Sometimes it's the little tweeks that can make all the difference! Happy Training!
