Special Topics Live: Problem Solving, Fading the Lure, and Cue Transfer with Live Training Demo of a Patreon Member: Monday 06/26/23 @1pm ET (link in separate post for Inner Circle & Elite Members)
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR! :)
Reminder that our livestreams are via Zoom and I will post the YouTube replay link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. You can always go back and watch past livestreams even if you can't be there live. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering. If I forget to turn closed captioning on, please remind me!
Those members who are at the "Crew" ($6/month) level or above are able to submit one question per month with their membership.
The cut-off for submitting questions is 2 days prior to the Zoom (Monday June 19th) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Elite or Top Fan membership level for video review of your training.
The Special Topics livestream this month is going to be on Problem Solving, Fading the Lure, and Cue Transfer. Eve, one of the Elite level members here, submitted a video of an issue she was having in training the stand behavior. Despite her order of operations being technically correct, after many sessions, her dog still isn't "getting it" which means it's time to change tactics!
She graciously agreed to let me workshop this with her, live, on the Special Topics livestream. While her particular issue is getting her "stand" behavior on a verbal cue without having to lure it, the discussion for this month will be on how to approach any problem you're trying to solve. We'll be looking at how I think about a problem before I lay out a training plan, using the tools I already have at my disposal. We will also be discussing the practical issue of cue transfer and adding verbal cues to behavior.
This will be a fun one, and the first kickoff of a new type of special topic that I hope to sprinkle in, which will include live problem solving and demoing with members. (so we'll see how this one goes!). Thank you to Eve who is allowing me to give feedback live so that others can benefit!
To access this special topics livestream, a link will appear on the feed for Inner Circle and Elite members later today. If this interests you, you can upgrade your membership at any time, and as always, you can watch any past livestream replays, both special topics and Q&A.
Back to the Live Q&A: Please post your questions for the June 21st livestream below in the comments!
