Hey Folks!
Hope you're having a lovely week!

Today's video (ad-free until public release!) is uncut training footage from some time I spent hanging and training dogs with my friend Eve and her Golden puppy Byxbee!

This video shows my favorite loose leash walking exercise that I use not only to train loose leash walking, but also anytime I need to refocus my dog, or want to incorporate pattern work to introduce them to a distracting environment with a familiar training game.

The "Part 2" where I'm coaching Eve through this exercise will come out tomorrow. You'll also see Byxbee do some shaping and confidence building work at a hardware store later this month, as another uncut training video exclusive to Patreon!

If the dog is having trouble wit focusing I know we have to go back to basics. But what if the dog has plateaued and is unable to get past a certain point. Just continue to do it at a distance for longer? How long do you train and how many breaks in between?

While training session length depends, they are typically 3-10 minutes for new skills. Regarding focus/plateaus - I would be thinking about whether or not I need to take a break, and how I might approach the issue from a different angle. I'd also look at the age of the dog (puppies regularly have plateaus/need breaks)
