CoolWhip's AKC Trick Dog Performer Title (Patreon)
Content
I have avoided doing the AKC Performer title because for some reason I thought a "story" was required for submission, and I don't have that kind of creative energy LOL. Then yesterday I found out that you can submit without a "plot" or storyline (a story is only required at the Elite Performer level). So, above I present you with CoolWhip's submission for her Performer title, which she has now officially earned.
To earn this title, you must have an AKC Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Trick Dog title on file.
You also must:
- Perform 10 tricks at the intermediate, advanced, and performer level that you have not previously submitted for other titles.
- 3 of those tricks must be at Performer level
- 3 of the tricks must use a prop such as a skateboard, phone, paints, piano, baby stroller, or in my case, Christmas Tree.
We all know that I'm a HUGE fan of trick training, and that in reality, all behavior is just a fun trick we are training our dogs. But what I love about trick training is that handlers seem to approach it with more lightness and laughter than things that are deemed "obedience". Framing all behavior as a "trick" can be helpful in cultivating a positive mindset and reducing frustration in training.
Trick titles can be a fun way to give yourself goals for your training and can be done at home!
This is also a reminder that I do FREE trick evaluations for those of you at the Inner Circle level and above!
Submission Requirements: To get your dog's AKC title evaluated, you can shoot me a message on this app. To submit for evaluation you need to submit a completed AKC form with your name, dog's registration number and tricks marked, as well as an edited YouTube video with the tricks labeled, in order, so it's easy for me to review. You can find the forms and rules here: https://www.akc.org/sports/trick-dog/
Please note that I will be away on vacation, and out of the country starting tomorrow until the end of next week. I am trying very hard to reserve this time to decompress from the final push finish up the new BIA course. If you can do me a favor, and submit for your titles after March 14th, I would truly appreciate it.
Oh, and if you see a trick here that you'd like to learn how to do, let me know!
Happy Training Ya'll!
