Bloom’s breath caught as she looked up and saw him.

Valtor.

Standing in the grand courtyard of Domino, surrounded by the towering spires of the castle.

The thought that he was still as infuriatingly handsome as ever flitted through her mind before she could even attempt to squash the thought. She really hoped Daphne couldn’t read her thoughts.

Valtor was wearing some sort of armor, it looked rather light-weight, but she was almost certain it was charmed with protection spells not unlike her own transformations. The way it hugged his tall frame made him look even more imposing.

And standing before him, alive and radiant, was Daphne.

Bloom had always known her sister was beautiful, but seeing her like this was something else entirely.

The golden glow of her long, intricately styled hair, the delicate yet regal pins that held it in place, the breathtaking gown that shimmered like pure sunlight—and for once, the golden mask she usually wore was absent, revealing the deep hazel eyes that had always been hidden behind it.

She looked every bit the princess of Domino.

Bloom barely registered the small pang of wistfulness in her chest. Would she have worn dresses like this too, if things had been different?

For a brief moment, Bloom felt slightly self-conscious about her own untameable fiery hair and mundane earth clothes.

Can you believe we're already on episode 20?? It feels like yesterday when I posted those first couple of episodes 🥹 We're almost at the season finale too, so exciting!

I'm honestly very happy to move on from the main plot of season 3 and add in my own creativity a bit more. This episode was my first real attempt at working around the lore of the show while still staying true to it. The fall of Domino is one of those things Rainbow never truly worked out perfectly. We were left with so many questions: how can a powerful kingdom like Domino fall so suddenly? How was Daphne able to come up with a plan to get Bloom and the Dragon Flame out in time? Who had the Dragon Flame before Bloom? These were all questions I was asking myself while writing this episode.

I tried to fill in these gaps with episode 20, using Valtor and his connection to the original show's lore. I do think they came up with the idea of Valtor at the start of season 3 and actually hadn't planned for him to be a character in those first two seasons. Especially since he was never mentioned in those first seasons despite having played a part in many crucial events. I think this is where Rainbow messed up a little; they never really thought ahead. Every season was very straightforward, with no consequences from previous seasons following the Winx in the new one. Of course, this is very understandable, as it is for kids, and they probably didn't know if they would get a second or even third season, haha.

But I do think we all love these additional bits of lore in fanworks; it really expands the universe so much more, doesn't it! I love a good romance, but nothing beats a romance with an amazing intricate world surrounding it!

I didn't have many struggles with this episode; the writing flowed, and the art was a lot of fun! I suppose the most challenging aspect was creating Domino. I am not great at architecture, haha. But other than that, this episode was just a really nice change from the previous ones. With Daphne making an appearance and adding that very needed element of family. Bloom really needed this little bit of reassurance from her sister, someone who would not judge her. I can imagine telling someone her secret after all these weeks felt like such a relief!

I can only imagine the reactions the Winx would have to this alliance, haha. Poor Bloom deserves Daphne to be at least a bit supportive 😆

Now one of her biggest fears has been put at ease, but instead she can start to worry about Valtor a bit more 😂 All the black is slowly turning into grey; suddenly Valtor is not as easy to predict as Bloom thought!

How do you think the next episodes will go? 👀

the story gets so so much deeper and that's why it is so captivating! I really like the new lore details you add, they help understand and connect the story events, as well as they REALLY help us see the characters in different perspectives! And especially you managed to make the story of Domino's fall as mysterious and enigmatic as it was in the first season of the show, and you kept Daphne's mysterious essence as well, and Bloom's thoughts about how things could have turned out if she was raised in Domino! I cannot stress enough how the webtoon is so so interesting! Thank you again, Fee, for the amazing story! P.S. waiting for the new chapters more than for the start of my university year for real... hahah 🤭

Folimpe

I'm wondering if you already thought or not, to write the webtoon down. Like a webnovel ? In addition of the webtoon. And add it in a bonus in one of the tier Patreon ? With one chapter in advance compared to the webtoon ?

I think we could think of not hearing about Valtor earlier as something they were hiding, like some sort of past they all wanted to forget (because they didn’t think he’d ever come back, did they, it wasn’t supposed to be possible to escape Omega) and because Faragonda and the entire Company of Light are very secretive, we hadn’t really heard about any of their enemies until it was necessary. Not the Wizards or the Black Circle, not Valtor, not Darkar, not even the three ancestral witches. And I think the only reasonable explanation is that they just kept it a secret. As for future episodes, well, I’m extremely excited, especially after that reel on your instagram, but because of that I’m a bit scared too. I can’t wait, I absolutely can’t wait ❤️‍🔥

I love seeing these. I’m a writer and can only manage stick figures. Seeing your drawing process is so cool.
