I kind of knew this episode would be relevant when originally doing research for it months ago, but I had no idea *how* relevant. Just this week:

1. Multiple people on my twitter timeline thought yeast infections are STDs.

2. It was announced that the Trump administration will no longer be defunding the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program enacted by Obama. It's not from lack of trying. Every single one of the 81 organizations that receive funds from the program had to sue the Trump administration.  This news came after the administration announced new sex ed guidelines will be cruelly erasing LGBTQ issues and emphasizing abstinence.

As such, this episode is timely. I hope you guys like it. I also hope you guys are beginning to see my logic in the way I've divided up content between episodes. If you haven't watched past ones, you may be missing the full experience. So binge all four! ;)

Lets Talk About Sex History 04: The Youth, Morality, and Sex Ed

Thank you so much! When I was in high school, they had a woman named Pam Stenzel come in and talk to us... woman was batshit, told us all things that were factually inaccurate/utterly mysogynistic/racist/homophobic. She goes around and speaks to (predominantly Catholic/Christian-based) MIDDLE SCHOOLS and high schools in Ohio to this day. These videos are certainly timely and (as usual) giving me hope for a more educated future! You’re the best. ♥️

HI Elexus, ever since I cam across your videos on Twitter, it has inspired me to help educate my community. This is actually one of the things I will be talking about on my show. I remember sex ed as coloring female and male anatomy and learning about substances that come out of us, but never about pleasure, orgasms, or consent. Sex ed should cover pleasure, consent, stds, contraception options, what is abortion, and more than anything emphasizing that youth have a decision on whether or not they want to have sex. It's in most people's nature to be sexual, so the US needs to leave religious indoctrination out of sex ed.

I agree! As far as teaching pleasure and consent, when do you think would be an appropriate age? Also, where did you grow up?

Shakara Wright

I think consent is so important to talk about in sex education! The reason rape is so rampant in this country is because no one is taught what consent is or how important it is, same with pleasure and how to communicate what you like (which is why masturbating is important). I also agree we can not leave our LGBTQ+ folks out of the talk.
