Letter From Lexual: New Employees + New Content (Patreon)
Content
FIRST OF ALL, thanks for sticking with me through the past few months through a less than consistent content schedule.
New Content
With a new team behind me (see below), the content is really about to be popping both here and on social media!
So about that cute picture above this text that I hope your eyes keep darting to-- its the official announcement for Lexual Says, the news segment you never knew you needed. Each 8-9 minute episode in the series will address current events from my point of view, and will provide you with the fresh perspective and slamming facts you've become accustomed to. Full episodes are ONLY available through your patreon subscription. For now I'm beginning with three episodes a month, and depending on engagement and feedback, I'd like to increase to a weekly show. This has been in development for months, and Im so excited to begin this week. But also:
Lexi Does The Seventies premieres on December 1st, and I'll be airing two episodes a month!
I'm working on a video about black homelessness and the housing crisis
LexRated: The Podcast episode 4, which deals with the history of virginity, soul ties, and rape culture, is in the works.
The Intelexual Media Book Club returns in October, with a few changes. Going forward, we will do fiction books, and you guys can leave thoughts, questions, and comments on the monthly video I do discussing the book. There will be no more book vote, but I will announce the book I'm reading and if you're a $5 patron interested in being entered to win a copy, you can comment. I really wanted the original format of book club to work, where there was a democratic selection and a discussion board that people participated in, but the engagement wasn't there.
New Employees
I have finally hired the help I need (a video editor and research assistant) to take Intelexual Media to a wider audience, and I'd like to introduce them! While my video editor and research assistant will not help produce all videos, they will definitely make my job easier. Additionally, all videos that Almonte edits (including Lexual Does The Seventies) will have captions! *insert heart eye emojis*!
Almonte is a New York based writer who uses film & satire to a bridge the gap between entertainment and education. Using comedy to convey complex topics like gentrification and racial identity, they aim to create a more accessible stage in the pipeline of leftist thought. Almonte has collaborated both locally and globally with artists and activists on music videos, films, sketches, and academic content. They're vision is to provoke abstract thought in the masses in hopes steer off the straight and narrow path of the status quo. Connect with Almonte here.
