I don’t think I’ve ever heard about the black contributions to mass incarceration when talking about the crack epidemic. I’ve also never heard that upper and middle class black people of the 80s were looking at drugs as /thee/ racial issue of the time. I think it’s fair to look at drug dealing within your own community as something bringing your own community down, but with the lack of opportunity all around in the 80s, based on infrastructure, it’s such a nuanced conversation. Really enjoying this video and as always love to hear your research Lexual!
