Hello all!

One of the unexplored (until today) asset themes that I have continued to brush up against in recent history has been that of Modern assets. Pieces that might find themselves more at home in a session of Vampire: the Masquerade or Call of Cthulu than at your traditional D&D table (shoutout to the isekai fanatics however).

I want to be clear: a Modern theme is not going to be taking a dominant role in our release stream. Rather I felt an inclusion of it here and there in even sparse amounts could help fill that much needed gaps for certain game masters. Particularly when combined with other existing sets like Technology and Furniture Assets and of course era-nonspecific environments it becomes easy to make a fully-fledged effort with what is ultimately a very small addition to the library.

That said, I did take some extra time to make sure that this initial launch of the Modern Assets series theme is a bit more robust than a typical pack. While there's obviously so much more that can be covered, I feel confident that this is a respectable start. I'll also be taking advantage of the opportunity to distinguish this set further from the rest of the library by:

Including it in its own, distinct Dungeondraft megapack series

Implementing a new clearer and easier-to-use filename convention

Branding the visuals around it slightly differently too

I could have done many different scenes with this set, but ultimately opted for a Street View as our example map for this set. It obviously makes good use of the asphalt road paths, streetlights, electricity poles, benches, trash and debris as well as natural inclusions from other packs. I also took a little extra time and did a couple of other weather variants of the map, for fun.

Dungeondraft

The Dungeondraft-ready conversion of Modern Assets 1 contains all of the standard assets as objects within the pack as well as colorable counterparts of many of the available assets and importantly, colorable options for the motorcycle and sedan. Please note that for now, the two links below are functionally the exact same--they will only differ after Modern Assets 2 is released in the future, at which point the Megapack will include both.

Venatus Maps

Of course!! Can I ask what game you're running that you'd use them with?

Sure no worries 😄 I plan on using it in my 5e DND Waterdeep Dragon Heist urban fantasy game

ahhh! I can't thank enough. As a Call of Cthulhu game keeper finding assets in such a detail style is so difficult. Always funny when creating an alien planet or crazy cult ritual is easier than a simple street scene that doesn't look medieval. I'm excited for this new addition!
