Hello all! Here is what I'm planning on so far for the Urban Assets Pack I'm going to be working on. In summary:

- Several rooftops of various sizes and multiple colors

- Window outlets & balconies

- Chimneys (with and without smoke)

- Flags of various styles

- Landscape indicative of an urban area

The rooftops will absolutely constitute the bulk of the assets pack as I'll be trying to create all available options and allow you to 'build your own' rooftop, but I am certainly open to suggestions on additional 'urban decor' like the flags, landscaping, etc.

Hit me with your ideas!

Looks great so far! Might I request some alleyway stuff? Garbage heaps or bins and such?

Luc Langen

I’m imagining a villige square wouldn’t be complete without a statue of fountain...

I am SOOO looking forward to this! I'm working on an urban campaign, and totally intend on having rooftop chases. Don't forget skylights, glass canopies for important buildings, and holes to put in rooftops. Maybe ropes to string up, between roofs. This is awesome. Thank you!

Alex Embrey

Flat top roofs (maybe just more robust balconies), along with stairs to and from them (either on the side of the building or coming up from within)?

Lucas Pollet

Two things I can think of that haven't been mentioned are sewer grates and basement doors. Aside from that, superficial things for adding variety to the bottom layer; things like scuffs, cracks, and trash. They're small things that can add a lot of value.

Lukas

How about some improvised wooden plank bridges crosding the alleys below (loosely inspired by Assassin's Creed), or ropes/clothes lines? Great idea anyway! Thanks!

Midgardia

To add to alleyway deco... crates and boxes work well. Awnings made of cloth perhaps? Cobblestone decorations to use with tree/bush assets we have would be fun too. Or even just floor decorative patches for open areas and house foundations and such. Could even be layered as staircases to houses or raised areas.

Illined

Looking fine! Keep up the good work.

Venatus Maps

Can't believe I didn't think of this, will definitely be including both.

Venatus Maps

When you say 'holes' do you mean intentional, open roof areas or broken areas due to neglect?

Venatus Maps

Sewer grates are a great idea; scuffs and trash also doable.

Venatus Maps

Wooden plank bridges and clotheslines are excellent!

Hexx Bombastus

I mean areas broken open due to neglect. As if the building is dilapidated.

Drains / manholes - round square, open, closed, etc. Barrels and crates - broken, fixed, on fire, etc. Plants and shrubbery in pots or various containers. Since you've got window ledges - washlines with clothing, carpets hanging over , etc. General muck and street-side gunk.

Brian Lyons

street garbage for sure, statues and decorations, that way you can create a wide variety of cities with a simple asset pack. Different type of material roofing (thatch, brick etc)

Azumii

I would love to see a few signposts like directional ones or like 'central square' style posts for wanted posters or announcements.

Gezzer

Have you ever seen a mediterranean rooftop style? Instead of having a peek it's flat in the center with slopes coming off of each outer edge. A couple of those would be cool. And maybe some half roofs that we could add to other rooftop assets to make more complicated roof lines.

Lucas Pollet

Another thought: Can you add small colored flowers that can be dropped over the top of the potted planters and planter boxes you already have? That'd be great for having in the grasslands and river asset packs as well.

Daniel Schmitz

looks great, I’m super excited! Have you thought about fences? Wooden ones, metal ones, etc. for like livestock pens and the such?

Venatus Maps

I've definitely considered that, but will likely be saving those for a more 'farmland' specific pack or mini pack in the future.

Venatus Maps

Good ideas for alternative roof plans! I'll see what I can do.

John

Oh dang, you actually did it! :) So, what I mentioned earlier, road tiles, modern surfaces, brick and cobblestone is great. Maybe some assets for bombed-out craters / roofs, so you can make impromptu positions to fight from? Damaged variations, I guess!

Jack McDade

Perhaps statues and market stalls?

Digby

I'm so looking forward to these assets.

Arthur_Of_Camelot

Water fountains, benches, a rotunda, nice flowerbeds ... those would all be really helpful for making nice manor grounds

Lloyd Pinchen

is there a set of these assets in this hand-drawn black and white style? I quite like my maps to look more hand-drawn and less digital art style.
