This. This right here...is one of the very few instances where I was actually left speechless and unable to provide some solid feedback.

I had a slight idea of what the episode may have been trying to shed some light on (regarding news outlets and media as they relate to celebrities), but I can only speculate. I'm sure there are some more connections relating to the elections, and definitely to Britney Spears herself, but I simply don't know enough!

Seriously. I-I don't know enough. Especially given how this weird-ass episode ends...

Slackity

this is one of those episodes where i get what they are trying to say but just do a bad job at it in my opinion at least.

I could see that, yeah. Of course there are other references that went over my head, but whatever message/parody they tried to broadcast, it wasn't super funny and didn't make a whole lot of sense.

This episode is mid for south park. It's not that funny, but it does illustrate it's point well imo. The only thing the media loves more than a risen celebrity is a fallen one.

Yeah, if you didn't get the reference to the old guy mentioning a lottery and stoning people to death, that's a reference to the classic American short story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, which was about a farming town that hosts a lottery where the winners get stoned to death as a form of human sacrifice prior to the harvest, discussing the dangers of continuing dangerous and inhumanely archaic traditions, especially. ones that result in bloodshed, along with the blind acceptance of it. The second half of the episode was entirely inspired by the book.
