I’m excited to see you watch this! It is really an amazing show, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen just with the acting, videography, lighting etc. The show has already been green-lit for a second season! Non spoiler thing to note is that Shane’s character is on the autism spectrum as confirmed by the author of the books, Hudson, Shane’s actor does such an amazing job at bringing in the small intricacies that show he’s neurodivergent. Also fun note Connor, Ilya’s actor is from Texas! He had a few weeks before filming started to work with a dialect coach and worked with them through filming. Filming the whole show took less than 2 months!

Yours is probably one of my favorite reactions to the show and I've watched several. I look forward to seeing you react to the rest of the series. I really appreciation the show's handling of the intimate sexual scenes. Initially, I was surprised, but upon reflection, I realized how normalized straight sex scenes have become in shows like Bridgerton, House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones, and True Blood. This show's portrayal has significantly contributed to making the queer sexual experience more mainstream and normalizing it. The physical intimacy is a powerful form of storytelling, just as much as the dialog itself. The hotel room scenes are the perfect examples and were particularly effective: The first one artfully depicts the raw emotions of excitement, awkwardness, apprehension, fear, and guilt inherent in his first gay experience. Both scenes beautifully highlight the depth of Ilya's character: beneath his aggressive persona lies a patient, understanding man who is respectful of Shane's inexperience and who holds a strong regard for consent..

28:00 Shane starts to watch Ilya on social media/interviews. Listen to the song at 28:10 (French lyrics). It says ‘You give new meaning to my life’. That’s the start of Shane’s infatuation. Before that it was the thrill and excitement of sex with a russian god. Gonads on fire and all that. Then the feelings start to grow. He’s ready to declare himself at the end of the episode. However Ilya’s guards are still halfway up, BECAUSE RUSSIA !
