Jay - you're a star. Thanks very much for reviewing this powerful movie. Much of the film's central theme has to do with the class war which has always been a thing in the UK and today is still very much in existence in society. There are some great comedic moments in this film. Nice little touches like when the older woman in the hairdressers showing a picture of Princess Diana to Rita and asking her to arrange it so that the woman would look like the Princess! It's clear that Dr. Frank Bryant fell for Rita and more so as the film progressed. I can never get through the ending of this film without tearing up as I too would have loved to have seen the two of them jetting off to Australia and both starting a new life together, but it was poignant to end the film as it did. In my view, this is one of the best movies to come out of the UK and thanks also for letting the credits role out so that we are able to hear the music score just one more time. 😊
