I Love Amber Riley's voice (though not as much as Rachel, or even Kurt) but the character Mercedes is NOT the best. Her voice is amazing but she is LAZY, not just with the dancing, but remember when she couldnt just pull another ballad out of thin air to perform when her song was stolen and they had to rely on Rachel. It has been more than established that Rachel works on her singing, challenging herself with hard songs over and over, and she is taking dance, in a ballet club (along with many others) like Rachel legit works on her performances nonstop. And Mercedes' attitude is just that she deserves it and shouldnt have to work for it, how would that produce a good show that is about more than just singing? Also, not to continue to sound like a broken record, but it is beyond frustrating how everyone craps on Rachel for being a DIVA or sometimes being overly mean and selfish, yet ignoring when she is nice (which is way more often than not) or when others are being a worse DIVA or a straight up bi*** like Mercedes was being to Rachel (or like Quinn and Satan, I mean Santana always are)!

I also love the focus on Mike in this episode, and his musical audition was great. My favorite performance/song of the episode was either Mercedes first song or her and Rachels duet. I fully agree with you, that the best moment/scene was the one with Mike and his mom, when she was suportive and they danced around the room, it was so lovely, after the pressure from his dad, hopefully he will somehow be more understanding at some point.

I just realized Mike's mom is the same girl in Karate Kid 2, and or video Glory of love, song that should've been featured in Glee but wasn't.
