Exciting! Can’t wait to read it when I wake up tomorrow.

What an embarrassing scandal! Hatching out of eggs? It simply isn’t done! What would the neighbours say?

Andrew

Thank you!

Great as usual. I am confused by something, why Marcus is not enhancing Great Tree academy? They are allies and it would cost him next to nothing to do the following: 1. Share the Wood spells with them. 2. Allow the Rank 3 and 4 mages to get Wood logos from his fruit, it is not as if the Logos gets spent. 3. Connect somehow the Sacred Oak to the Academy. Either physically (extend the warding to it? Ask the Sacred Oak to be relocated?) or even just sharing that it is sapient. 4. The king owes him a favour, and he could request permission for the Great Tree to have an actual wall (fairly minor in the great scheme of things, but it adds up for their safety). Points 1 and 2 would make more likely for the academy to get Rank 5 mages, without having to wait the heritage tablet, he can do the tablet later of course. And point 3 would give them insights on the Soul Tree technique that they might not get otherwise, also increasing the chance of getting Rank 5 mages while minimizing the risk of them getting killed once they get there. Essentially, is not just getting them to Rank 5, it is making them strong enough to survive whatever is targeting them. When they are begginer Rank 5, the Sacred Oak would be a powerful defender. And they do not know the risk they are facing when becoming Rank 5, only Marcus and the Sacred Oak do.

Great chapter as usual, thank you!

1. He do that later, but for now he's still worried that someone might go after them if they start using wood spells. His students are under his protection, but Great Three academy doesn't have anyone like that. 2. He definitely wouldn't show the fruit to anyone he doesn't have to. Too valuable, and too easily consumed in a moment of greed/spite/whatever. And when he eventually makes the tablet, most of that logos will be presented to them anyway, in a safer and less consumable form. 3. If Sacred Oak wanted Great Tree Academy to know about him, he would contact them himself. The most Marcus could do is tell Titus and others what is going on with it, but even then, Sacred Oak could just refuse to engage with them. 4. Really depends on how grateful the kind actually feels. It could work, it's just that Marcus is not particularly inclined to do this kind of thing.

Thanks for the replies. IF he would do the tablet, he should be interested in the safety of the Great Tree. A tablet is expensive, and Great Tree capabilities are underwhelming, a wall at minimum plus more powerful mages, would be better to protect both people and tablet. Another question, do Soul Tree practitioners need Death logos too to grow? The same way they need Wood?

Thanks for the chapter. This one was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the character development with everyone from Helvran and his love of novel parables, to the students on the trip such as Claudia's continuing aversion to violence of any kind. Shows how they're all people in their own right and their developing relationship with Marcus. The Amethyst looks to be a ongoing project to study that will deliver big returns if he can understand the proper way to utilise it in enhancing his soul. The Fruit seems promising but risky. It's possible the Sacred Oak will try something, but given it's already shown hints of being able to do a lot more with it's soul seeds, I'm betting it has a way to use the connection with Marcus's seed to protect him from mental contamination while consuming the Fruit, while sharing the inheritance in it at the same time. Or something along those lines. The only thing that concerns me otherwise is Marcus tempting fate. "Unless his students did something really stupid, Marcus felt he could keep this secret for years if he had to." Really Marcus? Really? Well, for now let's focus on what's gonna be reveals with Regulus' eggciting secret......

No, it's not necessary. Marcus certainly doesn't have it.
