Fine. I’ll reread the whole story. It’s not like I had anything better to do tonight or something….

Mr R

Thanks for the chapter!

Thank you!

Thanks for another good chapter! Interesting as usual. Especially with Regulus. We've got a nice little mystery, made even more compelling by the feather at the end. His father is probably one of those beings from the outerplanes Marcus mentioned, capable of shapeshifting and having offspring with humans. One who's true form is a bird of some kind. If that feather is from the same kind as the father or something from the same lineage, it might explain why he absorbed it. I am enjoying that Marcus students are all kinds. Kids like Regulus, Renatus and Iris with special bloodlines, backgrounds or divine blessings, along with Kids like Cricket, Cassia and Volesus who don't seem to have anything special background and are starting from nothing, who'll probably need to claw up to the heights through grit, effort and Marcus' instruction. And those like Julia, Claudia and Agron falling somewhere in between, some remarkable points but nothing too dramatic. It would be unnatural for every student to turn out to be something amazing, so I like the variety. Other than that we get to see here how despite great power, Marcus complete focus on magic, indifference to anything that doesn't interest him and his poor background leaves him ignorant of some things, while despite being much less powerful Cato's family means he has a broad base of knowledge accrued by his family, including a some real secrets even Marcus would be interested to know. We also have another interesting mystery of the rest of the items from the vault, some of which are looking long-term. Seeing as how Renatus is hinting at the bottle though, is it something divine or something spatial that's special? Could be either with him. Mostly I'm wondering if Marcus has checked to see if anything is inside it. Keep up the good work. Always brightens my day when we get a new one of these.

Nice surprise and as always very interesting to read! Thanks for the chapter!

It's actually been implied there's potentially something special behind Cricket, too. When Celer asked about the story behind Cricket's nickname, the latter related a song about a cricket who sung to the sun atop a black spruce tree--which was a story Celer apparently recognized, she namedropped the term "Sun Drinker" on hearing it. And the title of the chapter where Marcus and Helvran visit Cricket's hometown, Black Spruce Village, is "Sun Drinker". It's not a bloodline or special ability or anything, but foreshadowing like that is almost certainly going to pay off somehow later.

DiabolicalGenius

I forgot about that. Yeah if it was even the chapter title of her first appearance then it probably is foreshadowing. I'm interested to see where it leads.

Hi Domagoj, huge fan of your work here! I am a self-taught developer from Vietnam, and I’ve been building a personal AI-assisted pipeline to convert Mother of Learning into a full-length cinematic audio drama. It’s a purely passion-driven, non-commercial fan project and will always remain strictly non-monetized. Because it's an experimental system fully developed by myself, the output isn't perfect, but my ultimate goal is to preserve your exact narrative flow without summarizing or cutting your text. I've just finished Chapter 1 as a trial and wanted to share it with you: https://youtu.be/4DVdVsMT4BI (Note: In the video description, I have clearly credited you as the author and included official links to your RoyalRoad and Patreon to support your amazing work.) Out of deep respect for your intellectual property, I wanted to officially ask if you would be comfortable allowing me to continue this personal learning project for the upcoming chapters? I completely understand and respect whatever decision you make. Thank you so much for creating such wonderful stories!
