At long last, Kyoraku's Bankai is here - as is his battle with Lille Barro! As the second of the major Schutzstaffel battles to take place, this is a big one. This is the fight I've been looking forward to the most in Part 3 - so how did the anime do?

An amazing episode! That’s all I can say for sure. When I saw this rendition of Kyoraku’s bankai, the colors chosen, that weird gold color and grid based pattern on the floor honestly reminded me of Shoji screens and old parchment paper. It gave off the feeling decaying piece of art. Which seems a bit fitting, considering “withering” is in the translation of his bankai name.

I've read somewhere on Reddit I think, that Taguchi said they're splitting up the fights to show that they're happening at the same time. May just be hearsay.

YES. I've been waiting for your reaction. I loved Kyoraku's bankai, especially his chemistry with Katen Kyokotsu. It feels like such an important part of his character to show how comfortable and familiar he is with his zanpakuto spirit, not just as a partner in combat but with the vibe of an old lover.

Loved it! The gold threw me for a loop at first but after seeing some images of classic backdrops it fits perfectly. Do wish kyorakus line had been slightly altered as a result, though.

This fight was (and still is for part 2) my most anticipated in the arc. Lille is one of my favorite Sternritter and Kyoraku my favorite captain, and honestly, they NAILED this. I think everything looked incredible. I do agree that the gold for the bankai was not what I was expecting, but after a second watch, it works for me. The biggest thing I had hopes for was Lille's Vollstandig and they absolutely hit it out of the park! He looks INCREDIBLE and I cannot wait to see the second stage. The one thing that I ALWAYS had in my mind for when Lille transforms was that his voice becomes echo-y and ethereal, almost as though it was coming down from heaven seeing as though he's almost like a biblical cherub or seraphim and I am SO glad to see they did that. Absolutely incredible episode this week and I am DYING to see the second half! Lille's second stage Vollstandig is going to be insane!
