Hello!

So, TYBW Episode 49 has been and gone...and people are more upset than I was expecting them to be! I enjoyed the episode a lot, but I've had some time to ruminate, and I wanted to tackle some of the community's biggest issues, as well as give my thoughts too.

Enjoy!

The more posts I saw explaining how Yhwach was ultimately taken down, the more I liked it myself.

Tbh, I haven’t really seen people being upset about this episode. I know we all have our social media bubbles but still, been seeing a lot of positive

Havent fully watched the video yet, but ive also seen the discourse on people upset that it wasnt a 1v1 with ichigo or 2v1 at most with uryu and ichigo vs yhwach. Personally i think its rather fitting for it to have been a team effort to take him down. This warlord has constantly discarded his men on screen and for a thousand years, even his most loyal men who have followed him for that long. Yamamoto mentions this to him during their fight too, that he throws his men away like trash. In the end, Yhwach robbed everyone of their life force and became an army of 1. While he constantly mentioned he wanted to create a new world for the Quincies, he forged that path in slaughtering the quincies himself. So I felt its ironic and thematically appropriate that he's defeated by a giant collection of fighters, all from different races (some total opposites to each other) all putting their differences aside to take him down. I have more problems with the episode vs what I did like, but this point was not one of them, this was fine I thought, it just made sense. It was Yhwachs just desserts

I personally did interpret the 3 yhwachs being affected by the arrow. you can see the other 2 yhwachs doing nothing and standing there when grimmjow bit his and shunsui touching his. Also it seemed like the "vanquish, along with your soul was simultaneously said between the human worlds and the hueco mundo ones". also since mimihagi and the arrow happened at the same time that probably explained how both of them worked (why the arrow hit and why shunsui was able to touch him)

I think they just had a poor choice in characters to do the gang-up. Urahara, Yoruichi, and Tessai should have been involved. Dads should have been involved. Aizen should have helped with Kyoka Suigetsu to better explain how Uryu managed to land the arrow despite the All mighty. And lastly some of the fodder characters should not have been there due to their lower power levels.

facts only gripes i have is isshin and ryuken not being there and characters like shino getting the last stab but i really enjoyed it

In my opinion, the reason why ywach seems weaker is because his reatsui is spread over throughout the entire realm, engulfing it and it wasn't just his excess power. I'm probably wrong though.

I just hate how biased the bleach community has been. Its like they arent even thinking anymore about what makes sense and what doesnt. They just keep repeating its a "peak episode , absolute cinema and 10/10 episode. They all just ignore the issues

I think in my opinion the reason Ryunosuke was used was he was one of the few not fully down for the count. That and his drive made Kyoraku see a potential use for him. Perhaps Kyoraku expected to be caught by Ywach and as a submeasure if so he would activate Kageoni to seal the deal. If the right arm works with the power of stillness perhaps he didnt have a chance to flaunt his spirtual pressure to knock him back and itstead was left to helplessly watch as people he considered weaker than him (And for sure no doubt is he a speck of dust to a non frozen Ywach). I mean we dont even know for sure if it wasnt a set of things going off at once perhaps it could only happen because the arrow hit thus taking away his powers which allowed the blow to happen. Hopefully the final episode will kinda pull a JJK ending where they explain what fully happened and a chain of events in a more concise way. I'll also admit it does suck not seeing a bunch of characters not do anything. The fathers for sure are my biggest disappointment the others i could care less i mean would i liked to of seen something with Renji Tessai and Aizen most definitely but i cant help but feel the cutting of episodes for whatever reason could have a thing to deal with it and i think the month they used to add these nice additional minutes to the runtime and perhaps we have a bit more if the next episode does the same. Then for the ones we'd hoped of been healed maybe there wasnt time for it to happen and with the lack of healers on the battlefield select choices had to be made. IE maybe like Shinji Kisuke suggested healing Grimjow so that if in case something went wrong like he always does planned for Grimjow to still be of use in case something went terribly wrong. Again these are just speculations grounded in whats going on and characters thoughts and how ive come to see them as a whole. I also think the Iba Ganju and Nel thing is taking to much heat they barelyyyyy hold the thing back for just what i assume is the briefest of moments I mean it would of been nice if what you suggested happened where Aizen and the fathers hold it back for sure but if out of the count and someone holds it for the briefest of moments to give time to the finishing blow it didnt seem that bad of a choice cause then you could argue why did they do that instead of fighting where their powers would be more useful to me thatd feel like a slight diservice and then ruin the end of the world feeling if it was like yeah its being held back for way longer than what was given to us. Again i still agree with everything youve said and man would those thoughts have been better but i think i overall accept the choices for better or worse on how people view it. At the end of the day WAYYYYYY better than the manga haha

So many issues were clearly because of the decrease from 13 to 10 episodes this Cour, that extra hour was BEYOND needed. It's made even WORSE by the Anime staff being incredibly negligent, this makes for a 2nd messy conclusion to this Arc and it makes me so sad to say that.

Aside from the highly conspicuous absence of Isshin and Ryuken, I thought the rest was handled well. There were some odd choices, and a couple moments gave me pause, but overall I think the symbolism on display and the tension that came through served the story in a way that the manga simply didn't achieve. Overall I'm very happy with the way it played out, and I can't wait to see the resolution to it all on Monday.

Before I watch this, I'll say I'm someone who thought the episode was fairly good, but has MAJOR problems imo. The main issue I have is the roles of the characters. I liked seeing everyone involved, but like wym Ganju and child Nel are stalling the soul kings power. wym Yuki hits the final blow on Yhwach. Few other things also. Where tf is any mention of any kind to other important characters (even if they won't do anything, which is fine). NOTHING of RENJI when he was the duo sent with ichigo in the first place. Aizen not mentioned at all when he is a "special threat". [the dads ofc] Then on top of this I felt like yhwach's all-seeing nature wasn't used properly. I fully believe Uryu and Mimihagi powers can stop Yhwach, but like genuinely why does Yhwach not either kill everyone else or at least get them out of the area or something? Will just say the anime team got a lot of explaining to do. I am also expecting a Yhwach inner monologue start of next episode. ALSO my fav scene was sealing of his powers/death.

biggest problem for me is that isshin and ryuken werent present in the fight, let alone even shown in the episode

Because everyone is expecting a better answer from Kubo in his second chance, but not like this

Adrian

Im surprised more people aren’t talking about Uryu using Ransotengai

JamBear66

It was a visually appealing episode with very little in universe logic. Yhwach was nigh invincible just a couple of episodes ago but this episode had bottom-of-the-barrel characters (power level wise) taking a shot at Yhwach without much of a repercussion. I wonder what really was Kubo's involvement after all. For the Bleach anime finale I never imagined wanting a battle royale for the sake of it with such little substance. I might be in the minority, but I'd take plot relevance and plot points being addressed over mindless spectacle any day of the week.

Ahead of watching the video, I think it was fine. Extremely enjoyable for the most part but if Isshin, Ryuken (and maybe Aizen in a last ditch attempt) were to hold open the worlds, maybe even helped by Iba, Nel, and Ganju in some way, then it clearly show the Mimihagi activation before the Still Silver Arrow to explain the lack of the Almighty shenanigans then it would have been as good as we could of asked for.

Shane The Prodigy

The people on twitter are the worst. They think if you dont glaze this epsiode that ur not "real bleach fans" . Like how dare we have complaints and say what we wanted from this episode or why we didnt like certain things
