The fact it needed Eugeo to really get him back just goes to show: "Bros before hoes" isn't just some cheesy statement lmao. Also quick tidbit but last upload it was mentioned that PoH (aka Prince of Hell) was the leader of Laughing Coffin. Not sure if you forgot that given you can only remember so much with how many shows you watch lol, but yeah he's definitely no slouch at all. It's just unfortunate the Aincrad portion of the story wasn't fully fleshed out even more when it only had to volumes, where as Alicization as a whole consists of 10 i believe. The author could've done waaaayy more with Aincrad. Thankfully the Progressive novels are filling in a lot of these gaps in, and giving spotlights to a lot of these underutilized characters while expanding on Kirito's and Asuna's relationship. You'll see more of this once you get into the two Progressive Movies.

Aincrad was originally written for a contest with a typing limit, Kawahara in the end missed that typing limit and released it as it was. He later added some side stories for example the Santa Claus episode, the anime put that in order. Alicization consists of 9 volumes yes. Kawahara himself liked Aincrad too and wanted to flesh it our more which is why he started the progressive series.

PoH actually died after Asuna's attack. But due to his weapon (chopper I think) absorbing sacred resources it keeps him alive. He is on life support basically.

unironically I would place Eugeo on the same amount of 'love' as asuna is. he spent the same amount of time with him, if not more, and was just as deeply affected by his loss. you can call it platonic, familial, or romantic, but that love was deep and real for sure

I absolutely agree with the love for how they included Eiji and YUNA in this episode (anime-only content) - as was said, it makes Ordinal Scale matter. A lot of people label PoH as "racist against the Japanese", and while I agree he does have particular hate against them (because of his father who abandoned him until he needed "spare parts" for his half brother - the son he actually loves... who happens to look a lot like Kirito, but obviously isn't), in reality the dude hates EVERYBODY. PoH is half Japanese, half Latin American and/or Mexican from California, and you got a brief glimpse of how his mother treated him, and as a result nobody around him particularly liked him... which drives his hatred for Americans, Latin Americans, and Mexicans as well. And while some people would argue he doesn't have a particular problem with Koreans or Chinese, he's just using them - he doesn't particularly like them, either. PoH is just a generation hater with a particular gripe against the Japanese. The "nightmare scenario" that Kirito went through in the anime was mostly different than in the LN, as the anime really didn't cover much of what was really destroying him about his past. 1. Prior to the official launch of SAO, as Kirito was walking into a convenience store, he saw one of his SAO beta buddies getting physically bullied in the parking lot, and did nothing to stop him. 2. On the first day of SAO (not long after Kirito left Klein and made it to the village), he picked up a quest (which he knew about from the beta) with a reward of a sword that, if upgraded properly, would carry him through several of the early floors. He ended up working the quest with another player... who ended up sabotaging the quest and causing a mass aggro, hoping the monsters would kill Kirito, and once they backed off would claim Kirito's dropped items. Well, it backfired on Coper (because he misinterpeted how his skills worked) and was killed by his own trap... but Kirito, knowing his death would be permanent, didn't help him out anyway. 3. The wiping out of the Moonlit Black Cats is common to both the LN and anime 4. How he ruthlessly ended Oberon and Death Gun were anime only and not part of Kirito's nightmare sequence in the LN. That "clean, clean art" of Asuna is one of my desktop wallpapers... and it's really the first time (except maybe Ordinal Scale - don't remember) that we see Asuna use Mother's Rosario.

Yeah, Kirito saw the vision very early on.

Asuna's time with him is longer. but not by a ton. It depends if you count the memories of when they were kids in the village that Kirito kind of remembers. If you don't then it was a little over 2 years they spent together before the pontifex fight. Asuna was with Kirito for about a year and a half in SAO when you take into account the first floor and all the time they spent on the front lines together before getting involved. And then they were together in the real world for about 2 years before getting engaged. They know each other for about 3 1/2 years before WoU starts. In terms of time spent I would say it goes Sugu, Asuna, Eugeo. Sinon. Honeslty Sinon is the only one FAR lower tier than the others imo. But Kirito's time in SAO with Asuna was more hellish and surreal to him, and Asuna is the one who got him out of the hell he was in internally. I love Eugeo as a character and I love how important he is to Kirito, but I would definitely say he is number 2 to Asuna. Not by a lot, but I would say it is very clearly a tier lower, I would say he is on the same tier as Sugu like that unshakable bond and love for your sibling. But Asuna is basically his entire world. Like he even said to Sugu in the ALO arc that until he gets her back and until she comes home to him, he hasn't truly ended SAO. He can't be himself until he has ber back. I think if Asuna died rather than Eugeo it would've destroyed Kirito beyond repair.
