Keep in mind there was another character in this series that was sensitive to the way Subaru smelled - Rem - and it got particularly bad in two circumstances: 1. Whenever Subaru returned to a checkpoint via RBD (which was why Rem was always extremely suspicious of Subaru at Roswaal’s mansion starting with the second loop until he cleared that cycle); and 2. Whenever Subaru attempted to invoke the concept of RBD on those around him, which would garner Envy’s attention and heighten his scent, which he would then use to bait witch beasts (which he used to help clear the loop at Roswaal’s mansion, and used again in the fight against the whale, in which Rem confirmed he was “extra stinky”). Now we get introduced to this sweet, precious bean known as Shaula, who identifies Subaru as her master solely based on the way he smells - a smell nobody else in the room can sense. Awfully suspicious… Also, the star Rigel would be special to Subaru. Jumping back to the noncanon side story Sloth:If where Subaru and Rem ran away together to Kararaagi, they ended up having a son together… named Rigel (not sharing the daughter’s name because that name could spoil future things).

Also, it’s not quite exact - the Japanese constellation Subaru only includes 6 of the 7 stars that make up the Greek constellation Pleiades, so while both are referring to the same star cluster, it’s not a 1-for-1 “it’s the same thing”, and Subaru isn’t Japanese for Pleiades, either - Subaru is a Japanese verb for “to gather”, while Pleiades refers to the sisters in Greek Mythology.

His episode revealed a lot of information and lore. The "Flugel" was mentioned in Season 1 Episode 19, where the tree had the words "Flugel was here" written on it and also in Season 2 Episode 18, where Petelgeuse absorbed the witch factor. "Flugel" means "wing" in German (In season 3, episode 12, when Subaru uses the invisible hand, a wing is visible). "Pleiades" is a star cluster. "Subaru" is the star cluster's name in Japanese. They are depicted on the emblem of the automobile company Subaru. There is a theory that Flugel = Subaru. Finally, "Shaula" is coming – I've been waiting for it since 2019. Shaula used english in this episode, the language that doesn't exist in this world, the only 2 persons can teach english for them are Subaru and Al. Which suggests that Flugel taught her. They adapted the shadow garden scene, which was cut in season 1. They also showed a fragment of the shadow garden with Regulus, Betelgeuse and Satella. Emilia is so cute when she seems jealous about Subaru, Shaula and Beako sandwich. It's clear where the witch of envy came from.
