The brother is like a teasing and relaxed younger brother but it's out of place because of how bad the relationship is between the father and daughter. If it were a healthy family, you could see his personality being enjoyed by everyone instead.

The Father is abrasive but we have to remember he didn't deny the child despite that information hurting his wife who he clearly loves. The Father has love for his daughter but he is transferring some major baggage from something else into his father/daughter relationship. He is definitely not winning a #1 dad mug but that doesn't mean he wants to see her get hurt by someone. The dad is ultimately at fault as the adult but they clearly have been hurting each other for years now that everything is just messy.

I take her asking the dad for stuff, as her just asking for anything at all. Since from the very start he has given her nothing, no love, no attention, no acknowledgment. So when the Dad gives her brother EVERYTHING and she gets NOTHING of course she is gonna want anything. She also doesn't even ask for more then the brother gets even though she is better then him at everything. (expect the will but come on she runs the business perfectly while her brother fails often it makes sense.)
