I really love this series because it’s catharsis from all the classic anime tropes. They confess by episode 5, the MC has some trauma about relationships but he recognizes it, communicates it to the girl, then tries to work on it to better himself. This is very similar to how Horimiya makes me feel where the characters act in a reasonable way and the romance happens fast.

i’m so grateful for the fact that this & gals cant be kind to otaku are getting adapted right now, i loved both mangas and these adaptions (ik this show specifically is based off the LN) are doing them justice.

it’s kinda been surreal over these past two-ish years seeing almosr every romance manga i’ve read get adaptions. it’s such a crazy feeling

The vibe i get from the dad is that he may not be a bad guy. Deadbeat maybe given he's not around. He may just be a workaholic tho given all those papers he dropped at the end. Maybe work burnt him out heavily and could've led to him falling out of love with Maki's mother. Well we'll figure it out very soon

If the first half of the season is around the theme of setting up things with Maki, Umi, and Yuu with the dynamics and such between them (especially between Umi and Yuu), the second half is going to be focusing on Maki's family issues. It'll be a great second half of the season because this part is really good. With Seki, Maki declines him for a couple of reasons. The first is that it isn't good to do that and the second is that Umi and Yuu are still trying to patch things up so he doesn't want anyone interfering with them. Seki then decides to ask Yuu to the party on his own but he ends up so nervous that he asks her out for real (he even practiced and wrote the lines on his hand so he could ask her correctly lol).

Im really interested in what happened between mom and dad. But i feel like it wasnt something like cheating, maybe more like him simply falling out of love or having met someone new. Also were you tired or distracted in some way during the recording? Because sometimes it felt like you were missing pretty obvious things.

tbh i cant even blame him for missing shi. Im watching like 20 seasonals too and sometimes i miss stuff, meanwhile hes reacting and has other stuff that comes along w doing this as his job.

Coincidentally, the voice actors of Seki (Rikuya Yasuda) and Amami (Sayumi Suzushiro) played male lead Yamabuki and quiet cat-like VTuber Iko in Tune in to the Midnight Heart.

I'm not blaming Joe. Missing stuff can happen to anyone but for this episode it felt a bit unusual. Which is why I asked if he was tired or maybe distracted for whatever reason.

He’s dealing with all the copyright issues right now, I’d imagine that would be buzzing around in my brain all the time if I was him

Solid episode, I'm glad this show is getting a bit deeper, between the last episode and this one it is breaking with a lot of conventions. It differentiates it a bit from the Otagal show, which is really good in it's own right, but a bit more generic.
