I think there is a difference between telling someone how to parent and suggesting someone ease up on their kid when they are being too emotional and it is affecting the child negatively in the moment. I don't think Changyu did anything wrong by regrounding Qianqian.

I am so happy you are doing this series. It is one of the best CDramas out there right now and is rich in Chinese culture. It is loosely based on the Song Dynasty roughly 900 - 1300 AD, hence the Chinese Middle Ages. The live in husband arrangement is a matrilocal marriage, which endured discrimination in China. Slaughtering pigs while the Chinese loved eating pork, was considered very low cast. The comedy eases some of the seriousness we will see later. It is not GOT but the power dynamics of attempts to control the Emperor are similar. This is an unusual story which " flips the script" for women in these dramas. It is mainly through the female viewpoint and the women are very strong both literally and figuratively. It also utilizes the " Female Gaze" as opposed to the predominantly " Male Gaze" Lots of comments are made regarding the beauty of the male lead.

You may not remember but in Apothecary Diaries, Consort Lishu (the youngest one) was allergic to fish, she broke out in a rash when she ate it at the garden party on season one when someone tried to poison her. Allergies can come in different forms of course, like a severe rash, affected breathing, headaches/migraines etc. I imagine back in the day people just avoided things that caused reactions similar to how people nowadays avoid things they have known allergies for. The Woman Qi Min had shot in the back was Qian's housekeeper. Wei Xuan is an arrogant little shit who thinks he can do what he wants because of who his father is. He also has an inferiority complex when it comes to his cousin, because he feels that Uncle Wei cares more about Zheng. Yes Song Yan's face was replaced with another actor's because he signed on to do a BL movie/drama which is apparently illegal in China. So in order to save the show's reputation etc the producers changed his face. Apparently he wasn't even told about the swap, everyone just saw a different face on his body when the show premiered earlier this year.
