Í was in YouTube watching again there Ep 13 reaction, but as soon I got the notification I jump here. Let’s go wild things are coming

GAMINHA

I believe it is a translation issue. To clarify, Sui Yuanqing is the heir apparent and the youngest son of the Prince Changxin, whereas Sui Yuanhuai is the eldest son.

So when the annotation says that Sui Yuanqing is the "Eldest Son," it actually says the "3rd Eldest Son." When Sui Yuanqing refers to Qi Min as the "Elder Brother," he means that Qi Min is the "Biggest Brother"/"1st Eldest Brother." And Qi Min refers to Sui Yuanqing as the "Younger Brother" but the subtitle misses the "younger" part.

Peppermint

Haha the two brothers are definitely brothers with how crazy they are. XD I know you're confused about the eldest brother thing, but they explain it later.

Jordan

I feel like its a netflix translation issue, i watched this on IQiYi first and a lot of names they call eachother are glazed over in the first one, like Ning ALWAYS calls YZ “Brother in Law” but i think in some instances netflix misses it

Jordan

When you hear Qi Min call Sui Yuanqing “Qing Di”, Di - younger brother lol

Xienne

I think the subtitle ( in Netflix ) brought some confusion. In IQIYI the subtitle stated Sui Yuanqing ( the youngest son ) is the Heir Apparent of Prince Changxin

Gracie poo

I love this episode! the plot is gonna get thicker!

Willy Ng

yup, Netflix translation issue on "Eldest son of Price Changxin" ... as the Chinese word on the Sui Yuanqing character title are : "Crown Prince of Changxin " (Heir Apparent)

DramaWatcher

one important thing to note while watching cdramas: protagonists or antagonists usually never dies by falling of a cliff. Doesn't matter the height 😀

I think that the Netflix subtitle has mostly neglected familial titles in favor of character names in the casual scenes of this show. I guess this was for streamlining the subtitle experience for international audiences, since there are already lots of characters and characters with different names and titles in this show.

Cornelia

I think so too, translation issue. Its too bad few of us here can read the Chinese characters that flash up on the screen before we see the name in all Capitol letters in English.

Chiyo Kaze

That have super special plot armor until they are not useful for a plot.

Dana

Rule 1 of costume cdramas, if you don't see the corpse, they aren't dead Rule 1b, even if you see the corpse there is a 40 per cent chance they aren't dead, unless it's the last episode.

eimi

Haha yeah Netflix consistently mistranslates for cdramas. Sui Yuanqing is technically the heir (shizi 世子)but he is the younger of the siblings. I assume the whoever did the translations assumed the heir would always be the oldest so they probably didn’t proofread. They actually have a lot of minor mistranslations for a lot of names too like Ning calls Yan Zheng brother in law all the time and not by his actual name. But of course those mistranslations wouldn’t be a major issue. But it does cause a long confusion for people watching. It’s a common thing I see for people watching cdramas that they get really confused with people and places.

Cornelia

Goodness there are a lot of characters in this series and some characters are referred to by more than one name. Like Yuan Zhen aka Xie Zheng aka Marquis Wu'an. Then there are the crazy violent brothers Sui Yuan Hua ( grey haired) and Sui Yuaqing. Grey hair I found out signifies great loss and or being crazy. We will see what his great losses are. Then there is Sui Yuaqing's twisted attraction to Gangyu. Does he want to kill her or take her as a partner? And what is it with the more she hits him the more he is drawn to her? This series becomes more convoluted by each episode. As well as being highly romantic is also has a twitsted maze of political intrigue.

Cornelia

I am chuckling....

Sui Yuaqing is super arrogant. Being the heir apparent, no woman would have refused him. When Changyu threatened his life and slapped him to put him in his place, he would find that refreshing. She was doing something no woman would dare to do. The more she does it, the more he finds her intriguing. As well, with his 1,000 troops waiting, he was confident that he would capture her at the end.

Willy Ng

but If all this apply to " Jumping / falling of the cliff " plot in Chinese drama, the chances of survival are X 3 lol. Zheng survived ... and XXX ... and XXXX . hahahah.

Brissygirl

Qi Min's storyline has quite a few twists and turns so without spoiling anything, he is older than Sui Yuanqing, and that wasn't a mistake in the subtitles when Yuanqing was introduced. I probably totally confused you, but just wait all will be revealed in the next several episodes. Yes the girl who turned Madam Song away at the gate is engaged to her son Song Yan, who is Changyu's ex fiancé. Sui Yuanqing was trying to throw Changyu off by flirting and talking to her in the hopes of escaping. Which he eventually did. Pretty sure Zheng is a higher rank. The Li family don't have any particular title as far as I can remember apart from Grandpa being on the Council and being Grand Tutor. There is another Grand Tutor who no longer serves on the council because he is retired, that was mentioned once by Uncle Wei as a snipe against Grandpa Li a few episodes back. The 2nd Grand Tutor will be important in the later half of the show.
