Apparently this drama is stirring up the same controversy D.P did. Where DP exposed bullying in the military, this is exposing bad teachers and bullying in school. Generals tried to cancel DP back a few years ago and Teachers are trying to cancel this.

I started this kdram literally today and I’m already on ep 5. thus might be a 1-2 day kdrama for me!! and that’s rare where I genuinely can lay down for hours and just watch back to back!! a few kdramas that has had this affect on me were Bloodhounds S1, Taxi Driver S1, My Name, Crash Landing on You, Mercy for None, Business Proposal, The Uncanny Counter S1, Vigilante, A Shop for Killers, Flex x Cop, and a few others.

Nabila Dosani

I am a Korean born in 1982. As soon as this drama was released, I binge-watched it until the last episode, and it reminds me of my school days and I have a lot to think about in many ways. At the beginning of the second episode, a reporter asked the Minister of Education, saying, "There are questions about returning to the '80s and '90s when punishment was prevalent," and the teacher's assault on students in my school days was commonplace. However, in the 2000s, as cameras began to be installed on mobile phones and social perceptions changed, corporal punishment against students was completely banned. I thought it was a natural social development so far, but unexpected side effects began to appear a few years later. It was good to ban corporal punishment, but the problem of the absence of an alternative arose. My best friend is currently working as an English teacher at a middle school in Seoul, and his complaints are always the same. "There is nothing we can do, even if we point out the wrongdoings of the students, we have no means to counter them. Senior teachers who have accumulated experience just tell us to put up with it or pretend we don't know." Teachers who used to use violence against students indiscriminately in the 80s and 90s have already retired or become principals or vice principals and are pretending to be saints, and their original sin is that students who spent their school days in the 80s and 90s are now paying the price by becoming teachers. I'm not saying I miss the ruthless violence of teachers in the 1980s and 1990s. What I'm saying is that we need full protection against justifiable discipline. It is not unreasonable that students in the 80s and 90s do not trust teachers at this point when they are now parents, but I think it should be clear that teachers today are not teachers of that time. In simple terms, you might think it's just a refreshing drama, but for me, who spent my school days in the era of barbarism, it was a drama that had a lot to think about in many ways. It is English written in Korean and translated into a translator, so I don't know if the meaning has been conveyed properly, but I hope the meaning will be conveyed well.

Was just watching a clip on this and looked it up. Lo and behold our guy Joe posts his reaction to it. Gotta love it. I do love that he's all "Beat his ass too!" for everyone introduced lol.

I am only watching this show with you as I cannot stomach bullying, after watching kdrama angry mom and the glory, even the first few minutes of itaewon class, my stomach and heart is just in full fury that it was sickening to watch. At least in this show the justice is already serve in first episode, the others you will have to go through so many episodes before you see the justice served.

So this is crazy but I was actually recommended this drama by a pre-school teacher. I was surprised she rec'd this one because of the content but it's right up my alley!
