Trigger warning: I was triggered watching the show and seeing Ms Choi so incapable of doing anything that she also caught some strays. If you cant handle that, best not watch the reaction.

omfg the mom just might be the most annoying person in this entire series istg 💀💀

Deedee

this eps triggered me the most. and that’s crazy to me bc I feel like the student bullying should’ve pissed me off the most. so I can’t I believe this parent set me off the most. I’m a “kid” who hates kids. I’m 22 so I’m an adult but in adults’ eyes I’m a “kid” ig.

I read somewhere , that this episode was based on a true case , where the teacher actually went through k****ng herself 🙁

Blue Nach

This whole episode was based on a real life event but the teacher passed away. It's frustrating but I still feel bad for the teacher because you can't just turn off the sound in Korea. Even if she did, they will still harass her. The parents have the upper hand because they have more access. Ms. Choi is a young kind hearted person so they took advantage of that.

Blue Nach

I wouldn't even say Ms. Choi was dumb because the principal explained she would report the parents but the law wouldn't do anything. It's unfortunate how they value education but not the teachers.

illy

The actual motifs of this episode are the death of a teacher at a daycare center in Gimpo in 2018 and the death of a teacher at Seoi Elementary School in Seoul in 2023. I hope the two teachers in the real case who ended their lives were in peace.

Lucky

Calling the character stupid? Yeah, this is based on a true story. So, maybe keep that kind of criticism to yourself. Blaming the victims.

Hyun

I don't know why you think she can just block parents' numbers, especially she is the one who needs to communicate with her students' parents. (not saying the mom is doing right but it is what it is) It will only cause another problem. Also, dad taking his son can't be reported. lol. He is not supposed to act like that but it's not against the law. It's sad but child abuse is extremely hard to prove in korea if it's from parents.

FreshestAnime

I guess I misunderstood when they said that parents aren't allowed to have the teachers numbers

FreshestAnime

Ok so my options here are to either A. double down and piss you and anyone else off more or B. to get on my knees and prostrate myself begging for an apology because I called out a character in a show that isn't a real person but "based on" a real person which btw how loosely is it based on a person. Additionally just because someone is based on a real person it doesn't change their actions. How I felt is how I felt in the moment. I was not reacting to a real life story. I am reacting to a drama. A fictional show written by a person that may have been inspired by real life events to make a character act a certain way but that in no way makes it a real representation of the individual. Do you believe they went out of their way to contact the actual individuals families so that they based every character off of, isn't it rude to depict their story in a way that isn't accurate to the events of real life? Also, technically, aren't even some of the perpetrators in the show also victims themselves. How much tiptoeing around the way I react must be done? At the end of the day, I reacted how I reacted and expressed myself openly. If you don't like it, that's fine. If you now hate me and want to never associate with me again, that's fine. If you want to bully me online into an apology, I guess you learned nothing from the show, but that's still fine. EDIT: I guess option C would have been to not get defensive and just say "I see where you're coming from, I appreciate your comment" and just let it go 😂

FreshestAnime

through 6 episodes, it's easily the most infuriating of what I have seen.

FreshestAnime

I was losing my mind watching this. My recording was an hour 39 minutes. We cut out some of my very repetitious rage, I was fuming just going in circles about how pissed off it made me.

Lucky

Was that option a? Also, lets not pretend you are someone who stands by what they say in the moment. By your own admission there is like 10 minutes of episode one you removed cause you didnt want anyone to see what you actually said

FreshestAnime

I think the show goes to show they don't even truly value the education. Everything is fucked.

Deedee

😭😭 very understandable. I had to pause so many times to recollect myself from how angry I was getting. the acting was really good. I don’t dislike the actor of the mom, but I feel like if I see her face in another drama, I would instantly get irritated😭😭

FreshestAnime

Fair enough. I dont even stand by my comment I just made, I was about to approach it in a more relaxed manner right now, but you've already replied, so that's out the window. Shit upset me and I wanted to find a way to justify whatever I said in the video which I don't even remember because I just entered a flowstate of anger with tis episode. I think this is a very clear example of the fact that when I am reacting to a show I express myself openly and thus sometimes say some wild shit especially when a show infuriates me to the levels this one did. I appreciate your comment though. It shows people will be pissed about that part of my reaction, so it will be cut from the YouTube video as I like to make the YT videos just the parts that people "want to see" not necessarily a perfect highlight of my actual reactions. EDIT: I added a trigger warning to the video description too.

Lucky

You know, I do actually like you. And I will admit myself, that the comments you made might have triggered me more than it should have due to some experiences in the past. I do like and enjoy your content, and I dont wish for you to go foward having to always think on your reactions cause your reactions are why I am here in the first place. Thank you for being more mature in your reply than I clearly was, and hope you have a fine evening and future.

FreshestAnime

Yeah I gotta say the people that are supposed to piss us off are absolutely killing it lol

FreshestAnime

I will say, my bad on the lash out for the original comment I even added an edit to it at the bottom of that first comment. Anyways, by all means let me know in the future if I say something that will piss people off so I can have the editor cut it out. I think moments where I say really out of pocket shit is pretty rare and only ever happens if I enter a more emotionally volatile state like with this show but you never know lol Also, I dont even think your reply was immature, you're good. And the reply to my first reply was honestly a great clapback

Lucky

Thanks man. And seriously, I do really enjoy your content. Keep it up.

I understand what you're saying about needing to talk to parents, but there's still Talk Mate that they were using first. She can block the mom's personal cell and use the app that's recommended in the first place.

I've been enjoying this series only other Korean based show I've watched is lookism. Thug school just made me think of school in windbreaker and ofc Tokyo revengers. Can't wait for the next episode

Idk if anyone else has talked about this but I did teach in Korea, and it was one of the most stressful things i have ever done. and yes a part of it was the parents. There's a lot of not wanting to step ont he parents toes and sometimes the lines can get blurred. Like i was out with a coworker after work and a student saw us and came over and her parent came and greeted us and then the parent then proceeded to talk to us about the use of Korean in the classroom as we were an English-focused kindergarten. Then there was a time that a PARENT wanted one of my students kicked out of the school because they was noisy and played tricks/ teased other kids and what not. The mom was also the head of the parent association for the school. Her child was in a grade above my student and in a different class they only saw eachother during after school curriculum. Obviously that time i was like nahhh you not taking my student out and the students mom fought against the other students parents allegations and both students stayed and finished the year. So i do kinda understand where shes coming from because in Korea, lowkey the parents be wilding fr.

Uff, the beginning of this episode, when Inspector Na started teaching, gave me PTSD. My experience was a bit different from the story in the episode, but I worked with kids for two whole years (running extracurricular activities at a library), and my life became a nightmare. It got to the point where I developed depression and had to go to therapy. People who are able to tolerate children and their parents are saints, really. After everything, I realized that I'm not built to work with kids. The noise, shouting, screaming, and constant running around gave me anxiety. I've always been able to stand up for myself, and I'm not someone who's ultra-kind or always positive, but at that job I couldn't do anything except crumble day after day. Everyone kept talking about how children are cute and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a terrible person. Even people who aren't naive can be gaslighted. Anyway, I'm happy now, working in a field that I love, but I still choose a table in the restaurant where there are no kids around :D. The teacher character here is a saint—a true educator and simply a very good person who was driven through hell.

FE!N

Soo annoying 😭😭

Sorry, but I'm of the unpopular opinion that if a victim does something extremely stupid that gets themselves killed, then I'm blaming the victim. Like if someone does parkour and falls to their death. Or if some 17 year old goes out until 3AM, decides to cycle back home on their own which is 50 minutes into the middle of nowhere, and gets killed on the way, then I absolutely blame the victim. Call your parents to pick you up, who are probably gonna ground you, but at least you're still alive. Or call a Taxi/Uber and lose 20-40 bucks. And maybe you still might get grounded, but at least you are. Still. Alive. If nothing crazy happens in an Uber. Not saying I'm blaming the teacher as much here, because eventually she did try. It's really that the crazy mom is so relentless, there's almost nothing you can do to stop her without drastic measures. The system is sometimes just that fucked. I'm glad the mom got a taste of her own medicine in the end, and eventually got locked up. People like her are just too dangerous.
