I do want to point out that the Allies declared war on the Empire was first btw. The french nation started the war and pulling the allies in. So yes the empire is defending themselves

Oni

he Alliance marched an army into Empire territory, breaking a national treaty organised by the Commonwealth. Dacia stupidly copied the alliance expecting an easy victory. The Republic organised a sneak attack while the Empire where dealing with the alliance. The Commonwealth ignored enforcing their own treaty and backed the side that blatantly broke it. This was a big turning point, Had they sanctioned the Alliance and backed the Empire early on the entire war could have been resolved. The Federation broke a non-aggression pact. Ildoa are politicking both sides hoping to come out on top. The unified states are funding the Empires enemies.

In WWii the Soviet Union started out as an ally to Germany (though I don't believe they were an Axis nation), until Germany stabbed them in the back with a full scale invasion. USSR bought into the "socialist" nameplate, not realizing the Nazis absolutely hated communism.

All WW2 history is fake. The victors write the history.

now we just need Japan to join the empire

Yeah the entire irony of the situation is that the Empire isn't lying to them. They're over-arching motive for the entire series has been Peace. The problem is that every time they resolve one war they piss off more people around them. I know the previous season is years old so it's easy to forget. But at the end of Season 1 Tanya has a narrated monologue for the audience that discusses this point. The irony that The World as a whole often fights for peace. In the name of peace they pick up their weapon and point it at another party, inevitably breaking whatever semblance of peace there was. In The Empire's attempts to rapidly put an end to every enemy they have faced it has caused the world to fear them. As such, in the belief that the Empire will attack another they take up their arms in the "name of peace" to end the Empire before The Empire can declare war themselves. As many wars have been in real life. One war creates the next and eventually it devolves into World Wars.

Can we slow down and let Illdoa (Italy) join first? The episode teased thats about to happen.

Zettour truly acting like War (War is generally depicted as red, out of the 4)
