We the Audience know the Full Truth. But Man man avoided blame for the passage then leveraged her love for him to aid Yan then runs to her cousin to ask for another task from her cousin (who she didn't invite to the banquet where her cousin's husband could have been recognized). From a third party not knowing what the "audience" knows it all sounds selfish of Man man. Therefore, her cousin was not going to back down.

For someone who did so much for you it's a betrayal for not helping when the only time she asked for it. You will love the next episode Loved your reaction.

Yes, Wei Shao made the final decision, but he was forced to choose because of the secret tunnel that Manman had asked them to build. That’s why she feels so guilty about it.

Leah

Agreed! Sure she may not know all the circumstances BUT, ManMan married the man you didn’t want to marry because she cared more about you having love. She basically manipulated Wei to help them take Boya as their own after encouraging to settle down her (which was her master plan but still has been a good place for them). And THEN when ManMan actually in desperation asks for help for the man SHE LOVES. You tell her no out of fear? You don’t think she was scared leaving home and marrying a stranger who she knew probably hated their family? GTFO! This episode broke my heart for them. Just brutal. I don’t hate Qiao Fan out of this but she made me just as mad as Mama Wei does sometimes.

Acting like ManMan had to tell Wei Shao about a tunnel dug ages ago is something I just have to disagree with other comments on. It never came up in conversation nor was relevant to what they were dealing with. What was she supposed to do? Finish her mourning rites and go *tap, tap* by the way Wei Shao, just so you know we built a tunnel path here back when we hated each other. Update your map. It would be different if she deliberately hid it from him. Like if they were building canal paths and looking for routes or if they took a trip to Xiaogang and she deliberately hid it from him. But this is NOT what happened. If it wasn’t for the fact that Bitch-Lou had Xue Tai and so knew of the passage, they probably would have been able to set up counter measures because as soon as ManMan got news of the siege on Liancheng and what exactly was happening she went to tell the Lord about the path to Xiaogang without hesitation. She was just too late because the enemy already knew about and from the get-go had planned to used it. So acting like she withheld important military intelligence is unreasonable within the circumstances they are in since falling in love. Also ManMan is just a genius. Even I can’t quite follow her plan. I think on the third watch I finally understood even after it gets explained later.

Literally....

So basically the original plan was to dam the river upstream and then break the dam to release a surge of water but that takes too long to build. instead they went further downstream and drained the wu marsh and diverted it into the nearby reservoir that her grandfather built then break the bank of the reservoir to create the same surge of water onto the marsh below. Thats what I understood it was.

CA

I think the plan is to divert the river into the reservoir so that the river is lower. Then by releasing the birds they have captured to give the enemy army the impression that they have dam the river upstream and are going to or have released the river to sweep them assume when they are crossing. She is on the other side of the river so that the enemy general thinks she is baiting them into a trap.

LindseyB

I think i'll have to rewatch it again because i couldnt work out the last bit as to whether the plan was to break the reservoir or just divert the river. not clear on whether she drown the opposing army or just blocked them.

You may know this by now but sulphur is one of the main ingredients in gunpowder.

Also fun fact about Liu Yuning (ML) he MEMORISES the ENTIRE SCREENPLAY for his drama's where most other actors will have their script in their hand throughout rehearsal etc. So not only does he know his own lines he knows his co-stars lines too, if they get stuck he can prompt them with what they are supposed to say/do next.
